  1. Thanks to everybody for their input on this subject. I appreciate your help.
  2. This is such good news for GW, Afganistan and Iraq veterans. Thrilled to hear that our vets are getting what they deserve.
  3. I use Pete53 suggestion... I started using the header (or footer) for my name & claim number when I filed my last claim. You can print off blanks for copying & scanning items. Works great
  4. Sounds like I'm screwed! So much for trusting your VSO I sure wish I'd found Hadit earlier! Wish me luck...I think I've presented a solid claim so only time will tell.
  5. Thanks for the advice Carlie...Wish I could get into the article by Jim Strickland, the link is no longer available.
  6. Received an invitation to participate in a new pilot program....Is anybody familiar with this program? Any input would be appreciated: You are invited to participate in a new pilot program designed to accelerate claims and appeals processing known as the Expedited Claims Adjudication (ECA) Initiative. Your VA regional office (RO) is one of four RO's that was selected nationwide to participate in this two-year pilot program. Please read the information below to learn more about participating in the ECA and how it could benefit you. The ECA is a voluntary program that allows proactive veterans to have eligible claims adjudicated more quickly by agreeing to modified claims processing procedure. Under ECA, VA will still assist you in obtaining evidence needed to substantiate your claims. Further details regarding claims processing under the ECA are outlined in detail in the enclosed Agreement and Waiver of Rights. Your representative can also provide you with important information about the ECA.
  7. Carlie, Great advice. I know I'm saving it for future reference....Thanks again.
  8. mozartplayer: Welcome to Hadit I think you might find the following information interesting: http://www.2ndbattalion94thartillery.com/Chas/guambva.htm Best wishes with your claim!
  9. Here's a link to information that explains things quite well: http://www.vba.va.gov/Survivors/VAbenefits.htm Looks like Parent's DIC is income based.

    Screw The Rvn Vets

Why doesn't any of this surprise me? And they can't understand why so many of us (and our loved ones) are angry.

    Shocking!

  14. Larry J Thanks for posting this important release.
  15. My personal favorite: ROFLMAO (rolling on floor laughing my a... off):)
  16. Ranting is OK, most of us do it at one time or another. Healthy discussions is a good thing because it keeps us aware. Just remember that you are one of us. We all have our issues and challenges. Each of us has good and bad days. I know I've posted some comments on my bad days that I'd like to take back. We need to remember that forum posts may act as triggers for some vets and be kind to each other.
  17. akwidow, Bless you for taking such good care of your father. I know it's not always easy to care for a loved one once senility sets in. It sounds like you are doing an awesome job!
  18. gousto64 It was approx. 8-9 months from filing to C& P exam for me. Best of luck
  19. SgtAFMOB, Thanks for the head's up on this suit. :) Berta, Thanks for the link to the full story. B)
  20. A simple index! What a great idea :) Thanks Broncovet...I've got both of the links bookmarked for future reference.
  21. Shaq, I agree that there are always some people that will try to take advantage and file bogus disability claims and it's sad that a few bad apples have to ruin it for many that have valid claims. I believe that most people that file are simply good people that want nothing more than what they deserve. I agree with LarryJ's response. For us older guys & gals [i'm 61] the claims process isn't always easy. It may take several months just to gather our records & evidence before we can even think about filing a claim. Records/evidence can be difficult to locate, sometimes impossible. Getting Buddy letters to support a claim may be more difficult since our 'Buddies' have disappeared over the years & may actually be gone by now. I had trouble remembering all of the places, times and specifics to support my claim because I'd spent years trying to forget everything. Since coming to Hadit I've learned that I've made some mistakes in my dealings with the VA. I'm thankful I've found Hadit to help me learn to do things correctly from here on.
  22. Dilaudid (Generic: Hydromorphone)- opioid analgesics that are supplied in 2 mg,4 mg and 8 mg tablets. Excellent pain medication but make sure you don't stop them abruptly. A surgeon forgot to wean my wife off them before sending her home. Her withdrawal was really bad.
  23. Good reminder The link I posted has internal links that will take you to various fact sheets, etc. While I didn't check all of the links out, it looks like you could find the answer to any situation thru this link.
  24. vync is correct. Here's a link to the Federal Registry Rules and Regs as of June 30th, 2008 [PART 70—VHA BENEFICIARY TRAVEL UNDER 38 U.S.C. 111] http://www1.va.gov/orpm/docs/20080630_AM02...ciaryTravel.pdf
  25. In a perfect world this would solve so many problems! But then, we have learned that we must be realistic and making our lives easy is against the rules!
