  4. Congratulations on your win ! I know you did alot of hard work on your case. You're right a lawyer would not have worked as hard as you did . I know you put in countless hours on your case but it finally come through for you . WOW ! I feel you sigh of relief. I was just granted DIC so I know where your coming from. (No details yet) I also did hours and hours of research and foot work to proof my case. It sure feels good to know it paid off. Good Luck in the future!!
  5. SO glad it was finally reconized, but so SAD it took so long. Seems VA has too many errors, and of course never gets in a hurry. Good for you. Patience pays off.

  7. Hello hadit friends , Finally after 4 years of blood sweat and tears and lots of prayers. I got word today that a decision has been made. Service connection for the cause of the veterans death is granted. Thank God , what a relief ! My hearing with BVA was Aug 5th, 2009 and got word today Sept. 26, 2009. Thanks to all my friends here on hadit that made this possible. This is such a wonderful site to get information, and encouragement. All I can say is keep on keeping on and don't give up like so many others has said in the past. I don't know any details at this time other than I have been granted Dic. I guess I will find out more later. I just wanted to share the good news. WOW !!!! I'm so happy this finally happened for me. Thank God !!! :) :) Deceased Veterans wife Many Many Thanks
  8. Hello friends, I often read the great comments but I do not often make post or comments of my own. I just want to say THANKS for all the wonderful advice in the past and now I'm asking for you're help again. I have a DIC hearing with the BVA coming up real soon. Do you have any suggestions other than plenty evidence. I'm still waiting on two IMO's from the Dr's. I sure hope they get it to me soon, I'm on needles and pins. I'm trying to get my late husband's COD secondary to his SC PTSD. The American Legion Service officer is suppose to rep. me. The letter says i will have 30 minutes with my rep. before my hearing. Will this hearing last long ? Will I find out a decision that day ,or through the mail ? Any suggestions, or help will be appreciated. Thanks in advance. 4ransom
  9. I wish I could help you. I'm in the same boat as you. I have spent all week trying to get a IMO. No one wants to get involved. I wish you luck ! Sorry I'm no help. 4ransom

  11. I need your HELP PLEASE !! I have received a letter from the VA requesting how I would like for the appeal on my NOD to be handled. After reading the letter I'm more confused than ever. What do you think is the best way to go ? I can go DRO , or the Traditional appeal. I would also like to know how I need to fill out the form 21-4138 ? DO I need to do a brief summary of why i disagree with their decesion , or just only put how i would like for my appeal to be handled ? Thanks to all , I don't usually ask the questions but I sure do alot of reading from the board. This is such a great way to learn . Most of the time I think we all learn the hard way which is the best way we can. I'm glad I have you guys out there for backup support. Thanks again I appreciate you all. Vets wife and widow B)
  12. B) Berta , thanks for your help as well as others advice on my claim for my deceased husband's 100% disability re-evaluation was awarded . From 50% to 100% PTSD. Hope this will encourage others to not give up. I sure wish it had been before his death. He fought so hard for this decesion to be made and reconsidered but it was to late for him. The facts were there without a doubt, 6 months after I filed it was increased a retroactive increase to 100% rating decision established from Jan. 2002. My next question is how long does it take to get the retro pay ? Its been 4 wks, and nothing yet. How will I know if its correct or not ? I was denied DIC benefit . I have filed a NOD with all private Dr.'s medical records as well as a death certificate stating that cause of death was CAD caused or related to SC PTSD. What else do I need ?? Thanks again (4ransom)
  13. I was so disappointed to get my letter of denial for dic benefits. I have been denied due to Service connection for cause of death. My husband had Chronic PTSD and a disability of 50%. He was fighting for a 100% and died with a heart attack first. I will file a NOD to appeal this decision. I had a death certificate stating the heart attack was caused from PTSD. I have also asked the VA to reconsider the disability to 100%. I really need this dic benefit due to me being disable myself. If anyone has any good advice I sure would appreciate it. Best of luck to all.
  14. I was recently told by SS that a widow can draw off the spouse and her own earnings to a certain percentage if both have earned their work credits of 10 yrs. This is in the state of AL.
  15. :) I have really enjoyed reading everyone's comments but have never replied or written . This board is new to me so hope I'm doing this correctly. I need advice on getting help with my DIC benefit claim. My husband died from a heart attack going on 6 months ago. He had PTSD, and a 50% disability, he was trying to get a 100% disability at his time of death. I'am disabled and in the process of getting my SSD, but that could be many months or maybe a yr. or more. I have filed for DIC but all I get is a letter each month from VA saying my case is being worked on. I have no income and haven't had since my husband died in Sept.2005. Please help me if you know of anything I can do to speed this process up. Thank you in advance. Kat
