I was there too buddy. I was with the 173rd Airborne and was loaned to 101st. That was a tough time. Welcome Home!
  2. John, Thanks for reply. When i filed in 2004 for heart disease due to agent orange i was denied for the agent orange exposure. Then my DAV rep saw in my records where I developed High blood pressure while in Vietnam and I am getting sc'd for hypertension now. I also have DMII and am getting SC'd for that, neurapothy for both legs due to dmII but ot for heart. I also get compensated for PTSD. I also get compensated for combat wounds. I am currently at 90% and hope this IHD will push me to 100%. I think they are waiting for me to die.....Just afraid Im gonna get screwed... bet yall know this feeling too. Thanks Bob
  3. I received a call from the VA Nehmer group this morning 7:30am CST stating "The IHD claim is ready for decision as noted MAP D suspense." Does that mean it has been rated and needs to be signed off on or what? Does anyone know the steps and where this puts me toward the claim being finished? This is for IHD in cinnection with AO under Nehmer. I was originally denied in 2004. I sure am hoping it is good news. The VA C&P states is IHD and so does info from my cardiologist. I have chronic congestive heart failure. mets 3-5 and LVF is 43%. Thanks for any info you can share. Bob
  4. Hey JBASSER..... I found this in the New AO IHD regulation: "According to Harrison's Principles of Internal Medicine (Harrison's Online, Chapter 237, Ischemic Heart Disease, 2008), IHD is a condition in which there is an inadequate supply of blood and oxygen to a portion of the myocardium; it typically occurs when there is an imbalance between myocardial oxygen supply and demand. Therefore, for purposes of this regulation, the term ``IHD'' includes, but is not limited to, acute, subacute, and old myocardial infarction; atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease including coronary artery disease (including coronary spasm) and coronary bypass surgery; and stable, unstable and Prinzmetal's angina. Since the term refers only to heart disease, it does not include hypertension or peripheral manifestations of arteriosclerosis such as peripheral vascular disease or stroke. Does this meant that HTN does NOT cause IHD??? Sounds like it to me...just replying because of your last entry that stated heart disease had to be cuased by or secondary to DMII or HTN... Seems to me if you are geeting SCd for HTN due to developing high blood pressue in service...you could still get IHD compensation for CHF, heart attack, low LVF, CAD etc. I just want to be sure I understand how this all works.. All responses appreciated Bob
  5. Well I just spoke to someone at the VA toll free number and all they told me was pending, not waiting on additional information and that the claims are being worked according to the date they were submitted. She said which was 5/24/2010. I told her no it was 11/2009. She then says oh I see a 11/19/2009 date here, they MAY be using that date. I asked if she knew what date range they are currently processing and got a big no. Is it stalled because of the date issue???? Oh MY Bob
  6. I was denied in 2004 for IHD associated with AO. I filed Nehmer claim 11/2009. I am in Tennessee. I found out it was sent to North Carolina to the Nehmer group. I have been in contact with them by phone several times over the last couple of months and have done IRIS inquiries. All I am told by both is "it is pending"....well I already knew that. I called the DAV that represents me and all they say is "it should have been given to a VSR but looks like it is stalled" They did tell me they have everything they need. I have a copy of my C&P which states IHD as does my personal cardiologist. This should be open and shut. I see people that just filed a few months ago already having their claim settled. I can't get a good answer or find anyone that acts like they care. I know they are busy but come on..... Any one have any suggestions? Thanks Bob
  7. WOW, thanks for shedding some light on this..... hurry up and wait.. Bob
  8. I filed in November 2009 with a stack of test results and letters from my cardiologist. I have IHD, CAD since 1991 and a heart attack in 2001. My EF% is 45. I went for my VA C&P in January 2010 and got a copy of the results which totally agree with my cardiologist that I have IHD CAD. I have now developed Chronic Congestive Heart Failure which I got my cardiologist to fill out the VAs new IHD form showing that along with everything else. I have found that my claim is at the Nehmer group in South Carolina. I was also told my claim has not been reviewed or rated. I was denied for CAD in 2004 related to AO and also sent a copy of that to them. I have had no contact from the VA unless I sent an IRIS inquiry. I am in Nashville, TN. I am a life member of the DAV and have them as my advocate. I send stuff to them also as I send it to the VA and they also forward info to the VA. It all seems cut and dry to me according to all I read and have seen in the CFR. I don't understand why this is taking so long. Why has it not ebven been reviewed. Any ideas or suggestions that may help me to move this along or understand what is happening. I can no longer work and can really use the additional funds. getting really frustrated on waiting. Kinda want to re-file on line with the new fast track to see if that will happen quicker. Bob
  9. This is what I just received back from my IRIS inquiry. I am in Nashville, TN. Notice I said I have no other medical evidence on 9/7/2010 and they still state they are waiting for information from DR. It also states in the 1st line they received pertinent information. The VA doctor in his exam agrees with what my cardiologist says.. What is the hold up??? IRC REFERRAL - I would like current status and any other information regarding my Nehmer cla... Discussion Thread Response (Department of Veterans Affairs)11/04/2010 06:24 PM Dear Mr. Murdock: This is in response to your inquiry to the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) dated November 1, 2010, regarding the status of your claim. A claim was established on November 19, 2009, for ischemic heart disease. We received pertinent medical evidence from Skyline Medical Plaza on February 5, 2010. The medical reports from VA requested exams were received on April 7, 2010. We received VA Form 21-526b, Veteran's Supplemental Claim for Compensation, your letter, and a copy of the initial rating. On August 23, 2010, we received VA Form 21-4138, Statement in Support of Claim. A second VA Form 21-4138 was received on September 7, 2010, advising you had no additional evidence. We did not receive a response from Dr. George Crafton to our requests for information. If you have copies of your medical evidence or can obtain copies from your providers, submitting these yourself can reduce or eliminate the wait time for medical evidence. As of October 30, 2010, eligible Vietnam-era Veterans exposed to herbicides and disabled by chronic b-cell leukemias, Parkinson’s disease, or ischemic heart disease, may begin receiving disability and health care benefits on approved claims. Claims are generally worked in date order of receipt. We are currently working to obtain supporting evidence for your claim. A decision has not been reached. The length of time to complete the claim is dependent on many factors, such as the type of claim filed and the availability of evidence to support your claim. Claims are generally processed in 128-206 days. Please be advised a claim may take longer in this phase based on the specifics of your claim. We have sent this inquiry to the regional office, requesting an update on the status of your claim. We will follow up after a response is received. Thank you for your service to our country. You served our country with pride, dignity, and honor. The sacrifices and dedication to freedom you exhibited during and after service are held in high regard. You and your fellow Veterans exemplify the greatness of our country. Thank you for contacting us. If you have questions or need additional help with the information in our reply, please respond to this message or see our other contact information below. Sincerely yours, E. J. 10. I wonder if you can check your status if you filed the old fashioned way or if you can only check it if you submitted it through this site. Thanks for sharing the info to the site! Bob
  11. So, what is the next congressional step? does congress vote? or do they just let it go? and the check is in the mail later? Thanks Bob
  12. Whew, I feel better........Thanks
  13. On page 3 of this document and I quote......... "However, VA now knows that based on the publication date of the final rulemaking the timing will not allow payments to begin prior to FY 2011. As a result, VA expects FY 2010 and FY 2011 costs will both now occur in FY 2011. These costs include retroactive benefit costs in the first year and increased benefit costs for veterans currently on the rolls." Does that mean we will see no money until 2011 sometime????? Bob
  14. I thought earlier today I saw a post that told how the new IHD presumptive would be rated and now I can't find it. Any one know ?

I don't think that has been officially determined yet.

IHD covers multiple heart related problems. The definition of IHD in the VA's opinion, has been around for some time.

The medical definition is essentially the same.

Where things may come into contention has to do with the causes, treatment, and compensation.

Basically, the most common cause of IHD is CAD. This in turn is commonly caused by or is a part of atherosclerosis, which may exist in other parts of the body as well as coronary arteries.
