  1. Need some help with service connecting a PTSD claim. I'm a non combat vet rated at 80% currently. I was TDY to Turkey a lot in the late 90s and on a TDY the base sirens went off for a missile attack. We put on our chemical gear and went into our bunker for 1-2 hours. Later it was said that it was a false missile attack. Everything changed after this event for me. I have my TDY orders showing I was deployed there but the orders state I was suppose to get there on the 30th of Jan on a commercial rotator aircraft but I ended up flying military aircraft and arriving a few days early. I googled and found a CNN article about the false missile attack and the article states it happened on the 28 or 29 of Jan. I don't have any other supporting documentation putting me there on those dates even though I was there but my orders saying the 30 Jan. Do you think I can still get it serviced connected with the dates from my orders and the CNN article being off 1 day? Any ideas? Thank you so much!
  2. Will I be denied from the start on a TDIU claim if I don't have a single SCD rated atleast 40%? I'm combined 80% and the highest SCD I have is 30%. Thanks.
  3. Ok, my Dr went over the X-rays with me and she said that my neck and back have degenerative disc issues that were not caused by me falling from passing out. But she said that falling caused my neck/back to cause issues with the nerves & tissue causing the pain. Do you still think I can connect my SC syncope with the fall injuries even though they did not cause the degenerative back/ neck issues but caused them to hurt? Thanks.
  4. Good morning all...I have a question about secondary disabilities. I am 34 years old, 70% combined and 10% SC for syncope. I had a episode last week where I passed out. The way I passed out I hurt my neck & back and have a Dr. appt for Friday. If my neck and back are hurt..can I claim this as a secondary disability to my syncope (passing out)? I've never claimed anything as a secondary and do not know how it works or even if it's worth my time battling for it. Thanks for all your help.
  5. I think the answer is no to this but I'll give it a try anyways. Can you claim a service connected disability for something that MEPS found before I was active duty but on delayed enlistment? Thanks.
  6. I'm still employed at 80%. I heard that if I applied for TDUI I would have a greater shot at getting it not working so that is a totally different story. Right now I'm at 84% and one more 10% would put me at 90%. In the decision letter it states - "However, this examination continues to show this condition is not related to the already service connected condition of pseudofolliculitis barbae based on the statement from the examiner that epidermoid cysts are not due to pseudofolliculitis, therefore it is less likely than not that the veterans scar is due to his service connected pseudofolliculitis". I don't have a copy of the exam. The exam was done at my local VA hospital in the occupational health office. In the past I went to a contracted out (QTC) appt. So I have no clue what is different. I think I am going to call NSO DAV office tomorrow in Muskogee and see what I should do. I'm just confused about what is going on, thanks for the quick response.
  7. Need some help here guys and gals. Just had my claim for a cyst removal (scar) secondary to my already service connected pseudofolliculitis 10% (shaving bumps) denied. The claim letter states "that the condition is not related based on the statement from the examiner that epidermoid cysts are not due to pseudofolliculitis". I don't think this is true, but I'm no Dr or dermatologist. I contacted the Dr who did the surgery and he said that he couldn't write me a letter stating his opinion because the surgery was longer than a year ago. I've done some research online and the mayo clinic's website states that epidermoid cyst causes can be from "damage to a hair follicle". I had the cyst on my neck where I receive my shavings bumps and the scar from the surgery is painful, inflamed, and has keloid formation so I should get 10% for it according to the VA regs. I really need this because it will bump me to 90%. What are my options here? Go through the DAV and file a NOD? Do I need to get a Dr's opinion on my own or what??? Kinda lost here and any input would be great! Thanks!!
  8. I'm a combined 80% (soon to by 90%) vet with one service connected disability rated at 60%. I want to file for TDIU but I need some help and this website has helped a lot but need other answers. I can't quit my job because we can't survive without my current paycheck but would get by on TDIU and my wife making a little cash doing ebay selling. What's the best option for me and TDIU? File a claim while working? Thanks for all your help, it is much appreciated.
