  1. What type of dental care does VA VocRehab provide. I was told by my counselor that VA VocRehab only provides minimal dental care. It was explained if I had a bad tooth the VA would pull it out instead of fix it with a filling or route canal. Is this true? Thanky You my fellow Vets
  2. Is there a way to make the VA prove that they have not gotten information from sources we have specified in our claim? I am using one of my former chiropractors as an information source from my VA Service Connected upgrade appeal. Right now I am at 10% and have applied for an upgrade. I used several sources, but the VA says they have not received information from the aforementioned chiropractor. The chiropractor, however, insists that the information in their files was sent. I was told by one of the claims reps at 1-800-827-1000 that the information that this chiropractor has "not sent" to the VA is the only thing holding up processing my case. In an effort to not anger the chiropractor anymore I have not asked them to send the VA Form again, which would be a third time. Is there anything else I can do? I have been trying to resolve this for months. Thanks For the Help!!!
  3. Retired, I know that my statements do not take away the pain of you experience. Be assured that many of the people on this site have gone throught these horrible examinations. To me what makes hadit.com a great site is the fact that the people here are a diverse group with a common problem. I am so sorry that you were treated badly. I don't even know you personally, but I identify with you to the letter. Your C&P sounds like my C&P. It was terrible. Sincerely, Vet4life
  4. C & P was for my back. They have stopped everything. I do not need a vet rep. I have had one good Vet Rep from Bath, NY, but he retired. He showed me many things. The last one I tried to consult in Madison, NY tried hard enough, but did not seem to have to ability to articulate the claim correctly. I had to rewrite it. I know they can not do what they are doing and I have the education and time to find legal precedent to support my claim.
  5. I guess I am just chipper as can be!!! I received a phone call last week (July 6th) asking for clarification of my claim. The question posed was, "Are you claiming great (Big) toe numbness in your right foot and your injured ankle along with your L-4, L-5, S-1 back injury?" My question was, "If I do, will I need to go back to Anchorage to get re-evaluated? I really don't think I can fly right now because I am in so much pain?" The VSR's answer was, "Due to confidentiality I can not answer that?" I then said, "I guess if that makes it easier for the rater I will claim them later." <<<<< Big Mistake!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I get a letter in the mail today stating that action on my claim has been stopped because I stated that I can not endure the airplane ride to Anchorage (1:45 hrs/min) to be re evaluated. Well I guess tomorrow I get the C&P doc's notes, review my origional notes, go hunting in the regs, and finally write why they should open the case and that I will gladly comply with the 600 dollar plane ride and 50 dollars in cab ride (ducks in a row). I am glad I get to flush the tax money I have earned for the last 20 yrs down Alaska Airlines toilet. What a redicules waste of money. All because they could/ would not answer one simple question. I know I know ROI's and confidentiality I know the rules, but i does not mean I agree with them. I am also requesting no transfer of information via telephone. I want it in writing from now on. I will ride in an airplane every day of the week I guess. Heck I'll sleep in the stinking thing if thats what they want. Well I guess I am done now. Any pointers or does my plan of action sound reasonable..... Well at least semi-reasonable??? P.S. Sorry for my flamboyance... Just kind of ticked and wanted to get it out before I write the VA tomorrow w/ a clear head. OK where's the Advil???!!!
  6. So sorry to hear this happened. Fortunately there is a solution. Unfortunately the VA assures that significant time will pass before rectifying the problem. I did not accept any medication for a long time because I have a Substance Abuse problem sober since July 2001. Never have a posative drug screening at any of my MH appointments. When my back was terrible I requested Prendisone for the swelling. I was denied for drug seeking:angry: . How high can you get on prendisone??? I still have not fixed it, but I know I can. My mother was an RN for the VA for 25 + years and said to go to the Patient Advocate and if it does not work request to see a Psychiatrist. So the answer is yes they can stop meds, but with out substantial evidence they can not keep you from them indeffinately. Thank God for civilian doctors. Of course there are some good VA Doc's too. The best one I had was a Physician Assistant. My wife and I currently see a Civilian Doc that is a Nurse Practitioner. Just my two or three cents.
  7. Hello, I have not had my claim adjusted yet. I want to know if a person is upgraded from 10% to 50% does that retrocativity go back to the point where he/she was given the 10% rating??? or..... Does the retroactive only go back to the point when the 50% rating was given???
  8. OK, but I want to wait until I can get a copy of the C&P examiner's notes
  9. You have now entered the C & P Twilight Zone... A journey of sight and sound........ Has anyone ever had a really weird C & P exam??????? I went yesterday to my C & P after applying for an increase from my 10 % SC claim for my back. I made sure I went when I was in pretty bad pain. My back has been hurting pretty badly for the past month. I did not take any meds so that the examiner could see how much pain I was in. This examiner made some, what I believe to be, inapropriate comments. He told me it didn't matter how much pain I was in I could get no increase at all & that some people have a higher pain tolerance than others. He told me I was too fat, which I am, but really none of his business. He told me because of the type of work I did after the service I could have injured my back worse. He told me it was redicules to come to the C&P in such pain and that he couldn't even examine me. He told me that he has had worse back pain than I have. After all this was said I told him, "Look, I never had a problem with my back until I was hurt in the service and it has gotten progressively worse to the point where I am now. Then he said, "OK put you shoes on you're approved. I will need a new X-ray and MRI though." Uppon arriving at Radiology I was informed that the Dr. had called radiology had said that "there was no X-ray or MRI needed" & he was "going to use previous X-ray/ MRI's" Needless to say I am pretty confused right now.... I think new MRI/ X-rays would deliniate whether or not I have a worsening condition. Has anyone else had a similar experience to the above one & what was the outcome????? There were such mixed messages in this appointment I honestly don't know what to think. Comments and answers appreciated.......
