  1. Hello All, I was contacted yesterday by the VA informing me of an upcoming C&P exam in 3 weeks. My exam is for a re-eval for Mental Health (Depression and Anxiety) secondary to chronic back pain (5 back surgeries). I am currently rated at 50% for Depression and Anxiety and I recently had my 5th back surgery back in late Feb. I am on Clonazepam, another med for compulsive disorder and sleeping pills. All of this is on top of my Hydromorphine (pain med). I have a pain implant machine in my lower back which is not helping and my doc want to remove it next month. Do I have anything to worry about at my exam and it is being conducted by the VA at the VA regional hospital? Thanks... what do y'all think? vet2010
  2. Hello to All, I had to post this! I had a routine VA (one year check-up) today and I did not know my VA doctor that was treating me for the last 3 years retired. I walked in with my Kane and the new doctor checked me over for my ailments and asked the routine questions. I kindly answered all questions and then she dropped the bomb, hammer or an unusual question. My VA doctor stated, "I see you have a Kane and you have back problems. Mr.****, you have nice shoes on today, are they basketball shoes. My answer, yes! she then stated, well sir, how can you wear basketball shoes if you cannot play due to your back and many ailments?" I kindly said, excuse me, smiled and exited the building. Is it me or is the VA getting out of control?
  3. Question for the forum, I am rated at 10% for Gerd (No hernias), since my initial rating in 2011. I was on one med at the time for Gerd (Prilosec) and my notes state because I have no hernias a higher rating is not granted. Fast forward, I have been on 3 different meds a day for almost a year (zantac once daily, Prilosec twice daily, and sulficate 4 times daily). I now have a heital hernia and my stomach is covered in polyps (to many to remove). I have neck and shoulder pain and I constantly vomit, in which my doctor state it's from my acid reflux. I am scheduled for a c and p soon, because I am 100%sc for two conditions that VA stated could improve. I read that VA grant up to 60% for Gerd and I think I meet the critiria. should I apply for a higher rating when I go for my c and p? I am seeing a gastroenterologist (specialist the VA sent me too). My last endoscopy was less than 2 months ago which revealed the hiatal hernia. Guys, please excuse the many post,

  5. I posted on another forum as well, please help. Ok, I contacted the DAV at my local VA and he told me that my claim was up for normal review. I received my 100%sc rating in 2011 and I was scheduled to have my c and p this year. There is no date as of yet, however he did tell me I needed to be proactive, so I made him my POA to ensure I receive p and t. He told me that I should not have anything to worry about as long as I have been going to all appts, and taking medication as prescribed. My c and p is for depression/ anxiety/ ptsd and benign prostate hypertrophy both of which is still on going. I was rated 50% for depression and 40% for prostate along with a lot of 10s and a few 20s. My c and p is just for those specific two ailments. I have been on several medications for ptsd/ depression/ anxiety and it seems to me everything they try it either works for a while and then nothing or it just don't work. recently I was on venlafaxine but it I was taking a muscle relaxer for my bad back and the two meds didn't work together. I am now on fluvoxamine for about a month or two, and my wife is suggesting it may be altering my mood swings (angry) and I am sweating a lot at night. I see my doctors next week to look into what is going on. As for my prostate, I take mybetrix, its a medication to slow the frequency. I also wear the adult undergarments which must be changed 4x plus daily. The VA supply me with my undergatments. My question is, the POA told me not to worry about submitting any evidence since it is already in my records. He also told me I don't need to submit my SSD award letter from 2013 backdated to 2011, because the VA system is connected with the SSD system. Should I take his advice or should I submit my letters any away? Since I am having a c and p exam how do I file for p and t or is that something the POA will handle. I mention to him thismorning I wanted to file for p and t and he said of course. I just had back surgery again x5 to put the pain stimulator implant in and so far I cannot tell the if it is working because of the pain from the surgery itself. what do everyone think and should I be worried about the exam (no date scheduled yet)? In my notes from the VA the doctor state I have chronic ptsd, MDD, and chronic OCD. should I be awarded 100% alone for my head problems? any suggestions and advice is needed and helpful

  7. To my knowledge I do not have a POA rep...
  8. Should I upload my SSD award letter to ebenefits for this c and p as evidence?
  9. Hello to all, I want to apologize for not checking in more often. I was checking ebenefits today and I noticed that I have to claims pending and increase. I did not put in for these increases so I don't know who did. I am 100%sc and I knew I would have a c and p exam but who out I for the increase. The exact wording states "two claims (increase) pending. I know one does not request anything if you are 100%sc. The two claims are for major depression/ anxiety/ Chronic ptsd and benign prostate hyperthrophy. I take two meds for my head and one med plus undergarments for prostate. Just had the pain stimulator implant two weeks ago. Any thoughts on what is going on with those two claims, seeing I did not request an increase? vet2010
  10. Been on SSD for 3 years and recently had my review. I filled out the paperwork and sent it back in over a month ago, how long does it take for the review process take? Also, I ask my doctors throughout last week if they heard from SSD and they said no.
  11. My goal is to one day get P & T, however I am not requesting a C & P exam. When ever it come I want to be prepared. My pain management doc is an outside doctor and I want VA to have all medical records. I believe this letter is especially crucial to me retaining my 100% even when or if I receive a C & P date.
  12. Hello All, Just a quick question, I receive SSD (award date 2011) and I am 100% Sc. Will it be a good idea for me to submit my SSD award letter to VA? And I received a letter from my Pain Management Doc last month, stating I am unable to work. Should I submit that letter as well? Please respond quickly, I am heading to VA in the morning for a routine appointment and I want to turn them in if it's possible... God Bless! Vet2010

  15. Hello all, In 2013 my neighbor committed suicide right in front me with a shot gun. I was already taking meds for depression and anxiety; however this made things a lot worse. I'm curious to know how the VA will see this if I ever have a C and P exam. Will they say smething like, "it happened outside the military and therefore we cannot link it to your current case." I am already a 100% Sc. What do you think? vet2010
  16. Hello all, I see numerous outside docs and I recently went to (VA) release of Information to request a copy of my records from all my docs. I submitted this over 45 days ago and I went in earlier this week to check the status, the person at the front desk (same person who I gave the paperwork too) stated VA had no record of me requesting any records. What should I do? vet2010
  17. Hello All, I receive SSD for my ailments in 2013 and I am 100% Sc from the Va. I received a letter in the mail today stating my SSD is up for review. Should I give this information to my lawyer or should I feel the paperwork out myself and send it back in. Only thing it is asking, have my conditions improved or stayed the same. Actually they gotten worse, I take more pysch meds and had an addtitional back surgery earlier this year. I still wear the adult undergarments and I see a pain managment doctor every 30days. Please advise on next move? vet2010

  19. Hello to everyone, I been away for a while, had several more lower back surgeries. Today I went to the VA for a routine dental apt and they gave me a print out of my upcoming apts. The new slip now have all of your ailments and what percentage you were given beside each one. I have hemmorroids and I received Sc however I received a zero rating. I retired in 2010 and I am still having trouble with them. I have constant bleeding and the VA keep giving me the cream, spread this on and try not to strain. I know should get a higher rating than zero. Please help....
  20. I am set to the VA for a new CPAP machine, the one I have was issued by the Army in 2010. I complained to the VA and stated that my machine is making ticking sounds, broken face mask, hole in the hose (covered with tape), and often times take up to five seconds to turn after pressing the on button. What should I expect when I take my machine in and what questions will they ask?
  21. I am set to have back surgery but before I do, I want to know if VA will pay for me to attend pool therapy...I want to try all options before I get cut on again...my closest VA actual hospital is an hour away... V/r
