  1. I am 100% Sc and cannot work, I use to be able to function somewhat on a level playin field. I am suffer from severe depression and Anxiety and my doc just put me on two meds, Zoloft and Colozapam. My wife must assist me with dressing and must remind me to take my meds, she also take me to my appts. I am in college and my professor is aware of my diagnoses and he assist me as much as possible. My wife take me to class and pick me up afterwards, she also assist me with my class work. I thought I could handle class however I quickly learned that I cannot do it. I can't drop out or I will have to pay out of pocket. Can I be granted Home Care if I am attending school one day a week or should I wait to file after this semester is over? vet

  8. This is a hypothetical question but it could happen. I am awarded 100% Sc (true) but I am not P and T, what if VA decide to reduce my claim (hypothetical) to say maybe 70%, can I then file for TDIU, if so would I have to repay any money given to me by VA? The only money recieved is from the 100% Sc. I can't work and I am pending SSD................... Thanks for the input........... vet2010
  9. This site is truly a Blessing!!!! Can you state what all you are compensated for, if it's to personal I understand? Congrats and spend wisely, I received my Retro from VA in Feb of this year and I received my income tax refund about the same time, they both totaled over 16K. That was the good news, the bad news is that my wife spent it in 3 months and I had know clue until we had $150.00 left. Spend wisely my friend, spend wisely. BTW true story!!!!!!!!!!! vet2010
  10. Thanks for the reply, however no I am NOT P and T and that is my goal. I have two claims Prostatis and Depression that VA states will be scheduled for future exams, that is what scares me, both are at 50% each. The claims listed below are claims I feel the VA low balled me on, I retired in Oct 2010 and I just went to my first VA appt back in June. To get this straight, I should not file for an increase at time? If not when should I file , and I was told VA will not schedule me for a new C and P until maybe 2-3 years from now. Please help, my one year window to file under the original claim is closing fast 31 Oct 2011 (45 Days). Iguesss what I am asking is what would you do? Yes I am taking meds for depression and my prostate has worsened. vet2010
  11. I am 100 Sc however I am filing for an increase on several claims. My plan is as follows, please tell me what you think and if this is correct. FIle an increase with my local DAV office and submit new medical evidence. I was told by the VSO office once I file for an increase it would take 12 - 24 months for a response/ decision. So, I will file on 3 Oct 2011, Once I file I will submit evidence at that time and on a monthly basis after I have been treated by my docs. I am filing and increase for the following, 1. Hemmoroids 0% 2. Testalgia 0% 3. High Blood Pressure 0% however I am now taking meds. 4. Constipation do to Meds side effect. 5. Left Eye blurred vision - denied on original claim. 6. Planters Wart - Denied on original claim.......... vet2010
  12. Update, Spoke to my SSD Lawyer concerning my SSD claim, she told me the timeframe to get in to see the Judge is anywhere between 12-18 months. She told me to keep seeing my docs and to try and take it easy. That's it, the wait begins..........
  13. I really appreciate the advice and I can tell of you that I cannot afford to stop treatment. I am on Zoloft for depression and I thought (my on opinion) after a couple of months of taking the meds I could stop cold turkey and I wouldn't need the meds anymore, boy was I wrong. Two week after I stopped taking the meds I was constantly thinking about death and how it would feel to just let it all go, I quickly realized I needed to contact my doc and get my meds back. As for as the Prostate goes, my civilian doc states that " in rare cases some patients prostate cannot get better over time and that I am fitting that mold". Thanks for the help and please remember some vets (me) need this website more than you will ever know. Thanks vet2010
  14. I am worried about two ratings that were awarded to me and you're exactly right it states " as this condition may improve, a future examination has been ordered ". I retired 31 Oct 2010 and I cannot work however I don't want VA to reduce my claim for any reason. The two I am worried about is, a) Depression, and b) Prostatis, both of these conditions have worsened since my retirment and I was never prescribed meds for either condition while on active duty. Since retireing I am now prescribed Zoloft for depression and a host of other meds for my Prostate. What should I expect, how soon and basically what do yall think? thanks vet2010
  15. I am awarded 100% Sc however if VA for some reason reduce my claim to say 70%, can I immediatly file for TDIU? if so how long and what are the critieriasto file? vet2010
  16. Also, I am still within the on year mark, I retired in OCt 2010 however I didn't receive my VA benefits until Feb 2011. What date will my one year begin, Oct 2010 or Feb 2011? vet2010
  17. I am serviced connected for DDD/ Lower Back 20% Depression 50% Sleep Apnea 50% Prostatis 40% HBP 0% a number of 10% to = 100%
  18. I was denied my claim for High Blood Pressure and Cholestarol, VA has recently put me on both meds and I am filing a NOD for the two. Since VA prescribed the MEDS how do I go about filing a NOD for those/ these two claims. vet20210
  19. He is a mental health doc and No he was not involved.
  20. Can or will VA try and reduce your claim without your knowledge or will they schedule a C and P exam first? vet2010
  21. I am seeing civilian doctors and I recently went to my first VA appt. VA told me to continue to see my civilian docs unless I wanted to change to the VA. I am 100% SC and I want to know how would VA know if I am being treated by civilian docs and should I get a copy of my civilian records and take them to my local VA doctor every two or three months to ensure they are in my records? I don'y want VA to reduce my claims...
  22. I wanted to chime in and state what happened to me, I hope this helps. While on active duty I had several back surgeries however I refused to have the Fusion and my doctor opted against it because of my age (37) at the time. My doctor stated their was nothing else he could do accept send me to a Pain Managemnt Specialist. After seeing the Pain Management Specialist he put me on two heavy norcotics for life and I was sent to see a Physchiatrist in his office. I am currently taking medication for severe depression and Anxiety. I am rated at 100% Sc from the VA and I receive 50% for depression and 20% for my Back Pain. I was awarded 100% the first time around... I hope this help...I see my Psychiatrist and Pain doc once a month for med refills.
