  1. Good morning allI would like to thank all who have helped me with the decision i got from the va.I didnt get back on her yesterday bcause my VSO called and we got together to see what i wanted to do.I am going to wait until i get a review from a psyc Dr this next Wed on my c& p exam and also an evaluation from him befor i file an NOD.I will keep you posted, again many thanks to all....ED
  2. my stresser was that i lost my family in a tradgic fire while i was in Nam..It was the combat that was not verified but i thought anywhere anyone who was in Nam was in combat. But they did say that because of deaths and seeing some vietnamese children killed along a road.could not be verified.
  3. i am also 100% disabled for last 6 yrs and my pulmo said ,after my last pft test which was fev1 at 17%,i would probably have 2-3 yrs left if that.
  4. no i have not worked now for 7 years and am on ssdi-severe asthma and copd
  5. what would be the best cource of action now?Ive got to say i have an appointment with a psyc dr.on the 5 th of aug and he asked me to bring the report from c&p dr.
  6. pete 53-somewhere i just put in in this so any responce would be appreciaated from anyone.thank you.
  7. here is the reason for decision: Ptsd has been established.Exam by the dr.shows you have ptsd.We have no evidencethat indicates you were involved in combat. regulations say doubt goes to veteeran. an evaluatio of 30% is assigned from mar 11 2010 the date we received the claim.30% is granted whenever there is occupational and social impairment with occasional decrease in work effeciency and intermittent periods of inability to perform occupational tasks, altho generally functionaing ok with routine behavior self care and conversation normal, due to such systems as:depressed moods, anxiety, suspiciousness, panic attacks, weekly or less often, chronic sleep impairment, mild memory loss.the exam by the dr.found your effect and mood indicate a disturbance of motivation and depressed mood.you have recurrent recollection of the traumatic event with recurrent distressing dreams.you avooid thoughts, feelings or conversations associate the event and markedly diminished participation in activities.based on these symptoms you are shown entitled to the 30%. a higher evaluation of 50% is not warrented unless there is reduced reliability and productivity due to symptoms such as flattened affect bla bla bla. the dr calculated you gaf to be 32,which indicates a serious mental disorder that is inconsistent with the symptoms he reportd. the dr.found no flattened affect, speech problems panic attacks, difficulty in understanding, memory problems,or impairment of thinking or judgement.therefor the 50% evaluation is not warrented.
  8. Good morning all and again thanks for being here.To refresh I received a rating of 30% for ptsd and i think that was wrong, here is why: Diagnosis:Axis1 ptsd, other diagnosis is Major Depressive Order.the multiple axis1 diagnosis are related and the second diagnosis does represent a progression of the primary because the ptsd caused a later onset of major depressive disorder.each mental disorder can be delineated from each other.the ptsd is an anxiety disorder described as having flashbacks, intrusive thoughts, diffuiculty sleeping with nightmares, problems trusting people, difficulty with memory, being easily startled, avoiding activities, inability to remember importantaspects, intense physical reaction, sense of limited future, guilt, and difficulty trusting people.major depressive disorder is a mood disorder marked with depressed mood, generalized loss of intresst, low libido, insomnia, low energy, and having no social llife. Axis11-defered axis111-bilateral hearing loss and tennitus and copd Axis1V-severe issues with occupational, personal relationships, psychosocial and social enviroments AxisV-the Gaf score is 32 Answers to the Question from the VA:in referance to the question PTSD is diagnosed please state if IT IS LEAST LIKLY AS NOT RELATED TO THE CONFIRMED STRESSOR OF FAMILT PERISHING IN FIRE-tHE PTSD IS DIAGNOSED AND IS IS AS LEAST AS LIKELYAS RELATED TO THE CONFIRMED STRESSOR,AS WELL AS THE COMBAT HE ENDURED WHILE IN NAM. the effects of ptsd symptoms on his employment and overall quality of life including not being able to handle the stress and other ptsd symptoms associated with work.he has interferance with daily life because he relys on oxygen 24/7.the above statement is supported by the following: difficulty in adapting to stressfulcircumstances(including work or work like settings and inability to establishe and maintain effectiverelationships.Based on the exam the clainent needs to seek followup treatment.he requires outpatient counselimg and medication. he does not appear to pose any threat of danger or injury to self or others.the prognosis for the psychiatric condition is poor. hope this helps with what i asked in saying that i think it was wrong in giving me a 30% rating.thanks again i will await any answers.
  9. ok thanks,i just didnt want to get anyone mad at me.i will post what i have on here in a few minutes but i could be lengthy so i will try to trim it unless someone wants more info.

  12. Good morning to all.The sun is shinning here and it is going to be a good day. I was up at 2am this morning and i thought about what is happening to me so i thought id put every thing down her(will be lenghty)hope the moderator doesnt mind but here it is: 3/11/2010 filed claim for ptsd, shrapnel left chest, diverticulitious, gerd, copd, asthma, lung nodules sleep apnea, sinusitis, hypertension, hearing loss,tinnitus.... Evidence:service records, newspaper artical of tradgety of losing my family in a fierce fire back home, letter from commander from camp drum new york, letter from senator treatments fro okc va ss disability report from ok.treatment from Intrigis hospital... REASON for Decisiion: Service connection for PTSD directly related to service C&P examconfirms i suffer from PTSD.We have no evidence that indicates I was envolved in combat during service.however when reasonable doubt regarding service origin such doubt is in favor of the veteran. We evaluate you at 30% and is granted wherever there is occupational and social impairment with occasional decrease in work efficiency and intermiyyment periodsof inability to preform occ.tasks.(altho generally functioning satisfactorily with routine behavior self care and conversation normal)due to such symptoms depressed moods anixity suspiciousness panic attacks(weekly or less often)chronic sleep impairment mild memory loss.the dr. found your affect and mood indicate a disturbance of motivation and depressed mood.i have recurrent recollection of th traumatic event with recurrent distressing dreams . i avoid thoughts feelings or conversations associated event and markedly diminished participation in activities.based on these symtoms i am shown entitled to the 30%.A higher evaluation is not warrented unless there is reduced reliability and productivity due to flattened affect, circumstantail, circumlocutory or setertyped speech, panic attacks more tham once a week, difficulity in complex commands. The examinator calculated your GAF to be 32,which indicates a serious mental disorter that is inconsistant with the symtoms he reported from the examination. The Dr.found no flattened affect speech problems panic attacks difficulty understanding memory problems or impairment of thinking or judgement.therefore 50% is not warrented. Shrapnel- records show no treatment or complaints.-denied Diverticulitious-not service connected-denied Gerd-no treatment or complaints-denied COPD-no treatments-denied asthma-no treatment or diagnosis-denied lung nodules-no treatment or diagnosis-denied Sinusitius-no treatment or diagnosis-denied Hypertension-no treatment of diagnosis-denied Hearing loss-no treatment -denied Tinnitus- no complaints or treatment-denied There it is in a nut sheel so to speak. I do have 2 letters from family and friend about the shrapnal, and i can verify my reasion for hearing loss and tennitius as i was a truck driver while in NAM. Now I may add also I did NOT have a discharge Psyicial at all. End of why i asked for help, thankyou so much for the answers and the patience of this long letter.
  13. I will have to stop here as im upset right now and cant think but i will post the findings tomorrow.many thanks for today and may God Bless you all.Ed
  14. The lady at the Dr. office said that the va should rate me 100% based what the Dr.wrote.also something about axis or something like that.so your saying that i should file an iu instead of a nod?
  15. Thank you Carlie:Here is the story.I filed for ptsd, severe asthma, copd hearing loss, tennitus sinnius, scrapnal in chest are and multiple lung noduals. They dieied all but the ptsd and gave me 30%.Someone else on this forum said i should try to get ahold of the psy Dr.and i did just a little ago and the first thing she said was she couldnt give out info and when i told her the va gave me a 30% for ptsd she told me that i was 100% not employable and my score was severe.those were her exact words.she also said i should file a nod because i should be rated 100% by the va just according to the ptsd.I hope i explained it right.I havnt heard of reconsider of rating but will ask my vso when we get my c file and a copy of the report for ptsd.
  16. Please sir: the vso did not say wait until im 70% it was me saying i have to wait so i can get the full benefit .My vso is doing a nod and now that i have found out what the Dr. put intto his report i know it will be 100%.but have to wait for the system to work.Im sure the rater didnt have that report or he would have given me 100% ptsd and be compensated as such. And thank you for commenting on my question also.
  17. I just replied and here i am again.I just called the Dr. that gave me the exam for ptsd and i was dumb founded by what she told me.After i told her that the va gave me a raating of 30% she said to file an nod because my score is severe at 32 and that im 100% NOT employable.she also told me to request a copy of the report and also my c file. She said i should be 100%IU and 100% disabled.I hope what she said is true.anyways i just had to come back here and let u know what i found out.many thanks.Ed
  18. First thankyou for responding to my question. Yes i have and am getting medical and meds at okc va.But not for ptsd.I filed for some issues and ptsd was one of them.then they sent me to a qtc phy dr. I have not seen his report yet but have requested it along with my c file.I have a am legion vso.he said that it was a low ball because of the gaf score and we will file a nod for all issues which the other ones were declined to be sc.According to all i have found out that it shoould be at least 50% which im tryin to get to 70% total so i qualify for iu.According to my pulmo dr i have 2-3 years if that to live and that also has me depressed.so if u can read between the lines id like to give my wife something for security after im gone.I dont know that qtc dr.but i can call and ask if he would do that for me,he can only say no i guess.Im on ssd now for past 5 years and have 17% of my lungs left and cannot work.Im on 02 24-7 now.
  19. Moderator, where did my post go,as im new here and i dont see it?
  20. Good morning all.Im new here to posting but have read alot of posts here, which offers good answers.I have just received my award for ptsd at 30%.One of the reasons i think i was lowballed was thw dr gave me a gaf score of 32.i know the raters dont go by this number but includes it with their decision. Some of what he said was right but it goes far more with depression and panic attacks and sometimes just get so depressed that i dont go anywhere and dont accosiate with friends and family.Do u think that i should be rated at 50-70%.I also have asthma and copd and after last pft test that 2-3 years left if that.so what i would like to do is get a higher rating so i may get iu.i hope im saying this right but im not sure.thanks for any answers.
