  1. I am 100% SC through the VA, as well as the Army. I just got my Orders from the Army (National Guard) with a date that they will be adding me to the retirement list. I know I read somewhere that if I completed 15+ years in the guard, I would receive retirement pay along with my VA pay, but I am not sure if I am 100% right on that...so I guess that is my first question. I was in the National Guard, but on activated when I got messed up. Second question, if I am right, how do I know if I made that cutoff? It has two areas with time on the orders: first is the "Disability Retirement- 11 years, 2 months, 11 days" and then there is the "Basic Pay- 15 years, 0 months, 26 days". So my total time is the basic pay, right? Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!

  3. I am sorry, but can you break it down farther for me? I am new to this....I do not know what a MH rating is, and if I am a 100% scheduler? This is the only thing I have applied for, if that helps... What is a 100% P&T?
  4. I am about to get a rating for Menieres disease. It is looking and sounding like it will be 100 percent. My question is can I still work my part time job My employer is good about when i get ick to go home...I was just wondering what the guidelines were as far as me getting 100 percent disability with Menieres disease, compared if I was getting it for the IU version? Thanks for any help... Here is what I am looking at: 6205 Meniere’s syndrome (endolymphatic hydrops): Hearing impairment with attacks of vertigo and cerebellar gait occurring more than once weekly, with or without tinnitus: 100Hearing impairment with attacks of vertigo and cerebellar gait occurring from one to four times a month, with or without tinnitus: 60Hearing impairment with vertigo less than once a month, with or without tinnitus: 30[*]NOTE: Evaluate Meniere’s syndrome either under these criteria or by separately evaluating vertigo (as a peripheral vestibular disorder), hearing impairment, and tinnitus, whichever method results in a higher overall evaluation. But do not combine an evaluation for hearing impairment, tinnitus, or vertigo with an evaluation under diagnostic code 6205.
  5. Case manager? Do you mean the DAV Rep? I talked to him today and that is where I got the info that they are going to give me a service connection. I am new to this VA stuff, so not real sure what you mean?
  6. They are MEB-ing me out. I get vertigo (dizzy) all of the sudden, without cause, and cant stand up straight. They said there is no job in the military that I can transfer to from infantry that will accept that.
  7. He did not say much, just that he talked to the review officer and he said that they were going to grant me service connection disability for Meniere's Disease with Vertigo and if I wanted to do it and not go through or wiat for the review board that is still a few months away.
  8. I have something called Meniere's Disease. I have been going through the long drawn out process of this claim since March of 2010. Since then my symptoms have become much worse and happen daily. This has changed drastically since the initial C & P exam over a year ago. During my initial claim, I was denied any benifits for this because I failed to prove that it happened when I was in service. All I did was leave out one set of orders, and they denied me. To make a long story, and paper trail short, I filed for a NOD and have a review coming up in a few months. I have since then submitted those papers to them. My Rep from the DAV called today and said that the VA wants to grant me a service connected disability for this now without taking it to the review board, which is awesome news, but I am wary before giving them the final answer. I guess they got the paperwork that was needed. I am also nervous that I need to act soon on this before something else gets messed up. I also do not want to accept now, without knowing something that I should, and screw myself in the long run on getting more back for this. Update on where I am today, since the C & P exam is that I am in the National Guard for now, but getting medically seperated here in a month or so. I have almost 14 years in, and without the 15 year mark attained, I would not get one benefit as far as early retirment or medical retirment. Even with over 10 of those 14 years being active duty, with numerous deployments. I am dependant on that income for my family, and now with this disease, it will not be there much longer because I am not fit for the military. Second is my civilian job is slipping for the same reasons: the Meniere's Disease. I do not think I will have this job much longer either. It is not like I can just quit. I have to tough everything out because I have four moths to feed at home. So my question to yall is, what should I do? Do I accept, even though my condition is worse that it was at the beginning of this process? Or do I hold out for the review board? I am not sure how these things work too well anyway. I asked the DAV Rep what he thought they were going to give me as far a sa percent, and he said he could not answer that...??? Why can they not give me a percent now? How long will it take for them to figure that out? Any info would help out greatly! Thank you all very much.
  9. I was injured while on Annual Training (two weeks in the summer training) for the National Guard as I was getting ready to go to Afghanistan. I have the memorandum stating that I was at Annual Training, so I was wondering if I am covered by the VA as far as being hurt while conducting annual training? If so, can someone PLEASE help me find out a reference that says such either on the VA website or through a book? Thank you very much for any info you can provide.
  10. I was injured while on annual training a couple years ago. I have the documentation, but since it wasn't "active duty" and just my two weeks in the summer gig, am I still covered and eligible for VA Compensation? Thanks for any info...
  11. I have just returned home from my 6th tour since 9/11 a few months ago(4 w/ USMC and 2 with Army). As time has gone on, I notice that stuff isnt right, and things have changed. I have alot on my mind about stuff I have done and seen. I am currently employed in a civilian job, as I am in the National Guard for the military side, and my civilian job has good ins. So with that, my question is this. If I were to ever lose my job for whatever reason, and I was being treated for PTSD, what would be the best way to go about doing things right now, so I could make a service claim in the future if I had too? Should I go to a civilian doctor first, get diagnosed, and then take that to the VA, or should I go to the VA, and get diagnosed by them? Would a civilian doctor's recommendations hold more weight? Liked I said, I am not looking to get rich, or even use this until I needed it. I just want yall's opinion into the best way to go about this process. Thanks for all of your input...
  12. I am looking to get some services for PTSD while in Fallujah when I was with the Marines, and a couple of deployments since with the Army. I have put it off for a while now, not wanting to be a wuss, but there is something wrong or missing in my life here. My question for you is this, how would you recommend I go about this? Should I see a civilian doctor, have them diagnosis me, and then go and try to make a claim? Or should I try to make an appointment for a VA doctor, have them diagnosis me, and then go to make a claim. Does it matter? I just want to do it right. I am not looking to get rich by any means; I just want to get it right making the claim and not getting it denied. Thank you for any info you can give from your experiences. R/S GB
