  1. Update: It was actually a Bone Density test and was told because I was over 300 lbs. that I couldn't use their machine. I was sent a letter telling me to scedule with an outside clinic to use if they accepted VA payments. I live in Arkansas so I called Mercy in Ft. Smith and was told they could do it because I was over 300 lbs. Anyone in Arkansas know where I can get one done or anyone know what I need to ask for when I call a clinic. Thanks.
  2. No on the bilateral yet, I was going to wait and see what the bone scan results are and apply on all at once. I should have filed on bilateral but didn't know I could for a while (after reading it here) The lower back, from what I have read on here, one needs to be ordered to bed rest for a few months. A week usually does the job. Thanks for the reply.
  3. I scheduled a Dr. appointment because my knee was killing me. I cant sit very long and sure cant stand very long without my knee hurt at about an "8".(Prior to Iraq in 2003 I tore my medial mediscus and had a partial tear on my ACL. They fixed the medial mediscus but not the ACL and shipped me to Iraq.). While telling the Dr. about my knee I told her about my lower back going out when sitting for long periods of time. (SCed for DDD in my neck). The doctor X-rayed my back and knee and said that I had arthritis in both. That day she scheduled me for a bone scan. Anyone had one before? I assume it is to see how much Arthritis is in me. What are the chances of claiming DDD on my lower back? Thanks for any replies.
  4. Special License Plates Available For Veterans In 2005, the Arkansas Legislature passed legislation that allows veterans to purchase special license plates for vehicles at a cost of $3.75. This legislation went into effect in April 2006 and was sent to all revenue offices in the state. The eligibility requirements for the special military license plates are as follows: Veterans who served during World War II, Dec. 7, 1941, to Dec. 31, 1946; Korean War, June 27, 1950, to Jan. 31, 1955; Vietnam War, July 1, 1958 to May 7, 1975; and the Persian Gulf War, Aug. 2, 1990, to Nov. 30, 1995. The veteran must present a copy of his or her DD214 to the revenue office at the time of renewal. If the license plate has already been renewed for this year, a refund may be obtained by presenting the 2008 plate, vehicle registration and DD214 to the local revenue office. The special license plate will be presented to the veteran for $1.25 and a refund for the price difference will be mailed to the veteran from the state auditor. The plates may also be reissued to the surviving spouse of a deceased war veteran to whom the plate was issued at the regular fee for the vehicle. In order to obtain a refund for license plates purchased since April 2006, call the Claims Commission at 501-682-1619. The Office of Motor Vehicles in Little Rock is researching this legislation to determine whether it pertains to reservists and National Guard members who served during these campaign periods. A copy of a lost DD214 may be obtained by emailing the Office of Veteran Records at http://vetrecs.archives.gov.
  5. I received the unofficial notice from the DAV saying I was awarded 0% SC for sinusitises and denied for COPD. While at the C&P exam the only question for COPD was "do you smoke". The rest of the question were pertaining to sinuses. I talked to my VSO and she said we could file a NOD. Let me know what you think. Greg.
  6. I have a C&P exam next month and I would like to know what to expect. Maybe some of you guys can tell me what you experienced and wished you would have done different. Any help and advise will be appreciated. Thanks, Greg
  7. During C&P exam I took breathing test and the person administrating the exam said I had COPD and prescribed an inhaler. I can't remember the number but she said it was probably caused by second hand smoke when I was younger. I served in Iraq and inhaled a lot of junk over there. It seems like it has gotten worse since I have come home. Anyone had any luck with getting it service connected? What does it take? Thanks in advance. Greg.
  8. Hello Yellownumber5, I came back from Iraq in April 2005, filled for sleep apnea shortly after. I was given only one sleep study and they fitted me for a mask in October 2006. I was denied the first time, so I had some guys I was in Iraq with, write me a statement saying how I snored and stopped breathing. I even had my first line supervisor write a statement how he would catch me sleeping (napping) during the day. Just this month they awarded me 50% SC for sleep apnea. I never went to sick call with this problem, so I can only assume that the buddy statements did it for me. Hope this helps, Greg
  9. 80% is the new combined rating. 40% is the old rating. Thanks for the replies.
  10. I was rated at 40% for the last year and this week, after a DRO the VA rated me at 80%, 50% for sleep apnea, 10% Diabetes, and 10% tinnitus. My question is do they back pay 60% (the combined 50, 10 and 10) or do the pay back pay (back to April 25 2005) for each individual rating. The diabetes is actually an increase from 0% to 10%. Thanks for any help with this.
  11. Need direction on which to use, appeal, NOD or CUE on the following; 7999-7913 Hyperglycemia, Impaired Glucose Tolerance: 0% SC; VA doctor said I had Diabetes on my last visit but on all others it has been Hyperglycemia. VSO says I can get an increase because they have the Diabetes number included above. Which one should I file CUE, NOD or Appeal. 7101 Hypertension: 0% SC: I now am prescribed medicine for my Hypertension. Does this increase from 0% to 10%. There are too many or’s in the award lettering. Which one should I file if any. 5215 Residuals of Remote Left Wrist Sprain: Denied: Not Incurred/Caused by Service: Have sick call slips showing I went to the medic while in Iraq. Did think they would have denied that one. Which one I should file if any. 6899-6847 Sleep Disorder: Denied: No Diagnosis:They said they were waiting for my sleep study results and they never came. I received a copy of them and also received my CPAP machine. I had room mates write me statements about how bad the snoring was and the times they though (hoped) I had stopped breathing. Which one should I file. I already receive 10% for Medial Meniscus Tear on both knee, but I also had a partial tear on my RT ACL and it doesn't say anything about it only in my SMR. Is that pyramiding? I also received non-service connection on hearing loss and tinnitus but I figure I will let that slide. Thanks for any and all help. Greg
  12. My C&P Examiner sent me to a sleep study, where one month later they gave me my CPAP machine. When I got my rating they didn't service connect me for sleep apnea. When I read why it said my sleep study records never made it there. I am in the process of filing an appeal. The disability ratings is located: Electronic Code of Federal Regulations
  13. I received my C&P exam results and the paper work on what they gave me a rating or not giving a rating on over the weekend and I have a few questions: They rated my sleep apnea (NSC) without obtaining my records from my sleep study. They issued me a CPAP machine last month, I am going to request the results and file something. Last week I went to the VA for my primary care appointment and the doctor said I had Type II Diabeties, I am going to get the records from that appointment and file something on that one as well. My hypertension is now controlled by medicine taken everyday but I don't know if that is enough to file anything on, what do you guys think. My top and bottom number are below the numbers required. What are the "somethings" I need to file? Any help will be greatly appreciated.
  14. When I got rated the only notification I got was from the DAV. It has been about six weeks and I still haven't gotten anything in the mail. The 1-800 told me that I had been rated but nothing more.
  15. I will know more once I receive a copy of my C&P results. Sounds kind of familar.
