    Claim Closed

As previously reported my claim was closed on 4/16/2014 and my AB8 letter states 60% effective April 1, 2014. This is an upgrade from 30%. My claim was filed 4/12/2013. Got part of the retro pay before the BBE and the rest of it just appeared to my bank. The process worked this time as it took 3 years to get the retro on the 30% award. Happy days. I hope others get their results in a timely manner.

I was at 30% SC for IHD. I submitted an increase because my condition was getting worse, Passing out, Mets were lower, plus I had a Pacemaker Implanted. My claim was approved to 60% with the effective date, the day the Pacemaker was implanted, which was March 11, 2013 with an overall effective date of April 1, 2013. My thinking was that I would receive 60% for IHD and a minimum of 10% for the Pacemaker but that is not what happened. They are allowing two months at 100% for the Pacemaker and the increase to 60% starting June 1, 2013.
  3. I am curious about finding out how many individuals who were exposed to Agent Orange and had both of these diseases or know someone who had them. I hope that I am not stepping on toes with this question and I certainly don't mean to. Let me tell you a story. I am the youngest of three brother, all of who joined the military at a young age and each made it a career and retired. The oldest brother is in good health (age 82) and does not have IHD or Pancreatic Cancer (PC). The next oldest brother (age 80) had IHD and PC, along with me (age 76), the youngest, who also had IHD and PC . My middle brother died from PC one year ago. I got PC in 2005 and I survived by Gods grace and by having the Whipple Procedure. The thing in common with the two younger brothers are that they both served in Vietnam, while the older brother did not. Of course the VA does not recognize PC as being caused by Agent Orange. I am just asking if others on this board that served in Vietnam had PC and IHD or know someone who did. Thank You

SUCCESS I got my letter from the VA today and the effective date is April 1, 2013 (ab8 letter stated April 1, 2014). VA Statement: Evaluation of IHD(CAD) status post multiple stents from 2001-2002, brachytherapy (2002) and Pacemaker Implant (2013), which is currently 30% disabling, is increased to 100% effective March 11, 2013, the date of your implantation. An evaluation of 60% is assigned from Jun 1, 2013, which is the first day of the month following hospital admission for implantation. . I started with 30% and ended with 60%. I also received a deposit in my account today of $2,046.00. I have no idea what that is. I will file an amended tax return for 2013 and will advise CRSC of the change.

So file form VA 21-0958 to attempt to correct their error. How long do you have to file it? I have not received my VA envelope yet as my claim just closed two days ago. I am still learning. Thanks so much. Navy04 where did you get your information. killemail how long did it take to correct your problem? Thanks everyone.

This is getting interesting. What form did you use for the "notice of disagreement". How long did it take for them to solve it?

Thank you so much. Still learning. I started this VA process in August 2010 when they added IHD to Agent Orange, knowing nothing about the process and got 30%. What I learned was from reading on this forum and doing what I could. I have not had any outside help from anyone. My recent claim was submitted first by my Doctor when he submitted form 960a with his comments and my condition. Once he gave me a copy of what he submitted to the VA, I submitted form 21-4138 with some comments and also attached form 21-526EZ, FBC (nothing else to submit) and waited. The VA communicated twice asking me to sign and submit waiver 5103 which I did and it was still showing on the web site not received. My claim was submitted Apr 12, 2013 and approved to April 1, 2014 so it seems, some 11 months lost and you state yours will be approved for the month after approval. Loss of some funds is not a disaster but a good learning experience for all. What form(s) should I have submitted ? I am still waiting for the VA letter as all I have at this point is eBenefits letter.
  10. My claim was closed on 4/16/2014 and my AB8 letter states 60% effective April 1, 2014. This is an upgrade from 30%. Claim is closed and now waiting on VA letter. My claim was filed 4/12/2013. Any reason why letter states April 1, 2014?
  11. Yesterday, 4/16/2014 I went to eBenefits site and found my claim was gone. I looked below and saw that it was closed. I then went to letters and printed out the effective date of April 1, 2014; I went from 30% to 60%. I will have to wait until the letter come VA arrived to see what they did. I have a guess and that it is 60% for IHD and 10% for Pacemaker. With their fuzzy math that will make the claim at 60%. This claim took one year. My first claim took under fast track took 20 months to acknowledge 10%; another 4 months to get 30% and and 3 1/2 years to get re-tro pay and dependent status. Many thanks to all that have taught me so much on this forum.
  12. I just checked eBenefits this morning and claim status changed to "Preparation for Notification" With dates of 7/4/2014 to 11/29/2014. Yesterday status was "Preparation for Decision" with dates of 6/28/2014 to 12/31/2014. Strange.
  13. My primary is Ischemic Heart Disease (IHD) (30%), Agent Orange and Cardiac Dysrhythmia is secondary to Ischemic changes of the heart with Pacemaker implanted.
  14. It is already after six here so too late today. What is the 800 number and what do you select after connecting. I think I have sent the waiver on two occasions. I will check my records. Thank you for your concern and help.
  15. My current condition for the C & P is secondary to my rated condition as stated by my Doctor, so I do not know what to expect for sure. Time will tell. I was concerned about the letter that they are sending and what they might want. Something was stated that the waiver was missing on eBenefits. Guess I will find out next week.
  16. I felt the C & P went well. I went to the ROI section at the VA center to get certified for MyHealth site and while there I had them give me a copy of the C & P. They printed it and put it in a nice envelope. I attempted MyHealthVet but did not find the results.
  17. Yesterday, April 10 my claim went from "Gathering of Evidence" to "Preparation for Decision", Development Letter Sent. On April 2, I had my C & P. What does this mean and why was a letter sent? I checked A8 and no change in my status. Any ideas? My claim was started on April 30, 2013. Thanks
  18. I think I have found the answer. Go to the ROI office and request a copy giving it time to be completed. I will wait 7-10 days and give it a try. Thanks
  19. I had a C & P exam on April 2, 2014. Is it possible to get a copy of what he reported to the VA and if so HOW? Thank You

    Retro Pay

I received a letter today from the Regional VA Center with the audit amounts and both the Retro Pay and Dependent back pay were included in the final check amount. It's a done deal some 3 1/2 years after first submitting my claim. Many thanks to all.

    Retro Pay

My Initial claim was submitted in August 2010 and approved 30%, CAD (IHD), Agent Orange in July 2012 to back to August 2010. Retro pay never received. CRSC was approved in September 2012 with their portion of the Audit received in October 2012. Wife Dependent claim submitted in August 2012 and approved in Feb 2014 back to Aug 2010. Finally today I received as a direct deposit (which I assume to be Retro Pay), but is larger amount than the Audit Worksheet indicated I was due. I also have the financial worksheet from VA on Dependent claim approval and the amount due. If I add the two (CRSC and Dependent) together the deposit is a few hundred dollars more. My question is would the VA have added together the two retro claims together or is the deposit just an adjustment of some sort to correct the AWS. In any event I am happy to receive any amount that after such a long wait. I just logged in eBenefits and found that deposit listed and it indicates "C & P Retro pay" with no mention of Dependent pay.
  22. I check the VA eBenefits web site several times weekly to see if there is any change. I checked it today and found two (2) of my (3) claims were closed yesterday. 1. Dependency Claim: Closed on 2/27/2014, stating "Appeal is Possible" (all claims approved or disapproved show this) and "Development letter sent." The site has a backdoor method of determining the amount of monthly pay you receive by generating a LETTER to yourself. I did this and found that my pay went up $47.00 monthly because of wife, effective date Jan 2014. a. This claim was submitted on 7/24/2012. My A. O. 30% claim was submitted in August 2010 and approved to that day (retro pay). I do not know if I will get any back pay for this dependency claim to the date of 2010 or if it will start in January 2014? 2. Retired Pay Adjustment: Closed on 2/27/2014. I have never received any of the retro pay from my original claim of August 2010 and could not get the VA to acknowledge that fact or check to see where the Audit Worksheet was located. I contacted Air Force CRSC and they mailed me a copy of the Audit Worksheet. I uploaded worksheet to the VA and they would not accept it. It has to come from CRSC. In November 2013, I wrote the VA a letter sending them a copy of the worksheet, asking that they check on it and on 12/16/2013 the "Retired Pay Adjustment" claim appeared. I assume it was for the Audit worksheet. I am only guessing. This CLOSED CASE only indicates "Appeal is Possible" but does not refer to any Development letter being sent. 3. I have only one (FDC) claim open and that is for a "Pace Maker" for A. O. for my CAD/IHD that was submitted on April 24, 2013. I would assume one day I will receive a C & P exam if the VA submits it forward. I have checked my bank account and I do not see any pending deposit transactions but I will keep checking. Good luck to all.
  23. Thanks for your service and your reply. You may have a point in what you said. I have never been paid my retro pay from my 30% award in 2012 dating back to 2010. I contacted "My Pay" and had them send me a copy of the Audit Worksheet that the VA stated they never received. By the means of IRIS, I forwarded the AWS to the VA and they would not accept it. Then I forwarded the AWS to VA in November 2013 along with a letter stating I never received the retro pay. They must have opened a claim and named it "Retired Pay Adjustment". I also have a claim in since 2010 for dependent pay that they have never allowed or paid. Many thanks for your reply.
  24. A claim has appears on my E-Benefits page and I am not sure what it is or means. I did not submitted a claim for Retired Pay Adjustment and am not aware that I could. We got a cola raise about that time but would not see that as a claim. Any ideas what this could be? I have listed it below. Thanks Date of Claim Est. Completion Date Status Claim Type Updates Actions 12/16/2013 03/13/14 to 5/20/14 Claim Received Retired Pay Adjustment Upload Doc
  25. My CRSC was approved in Aug 2012 and Audit worksheet was sent to VA in Nov 2012 dating back to Aug 2010. I'm still waiting after having DFAS transmit it again in Oct 2013 because VA stated they did not receive it. I also had DFAS mail me a copy of the Audit Worksheet and the VA will not accept it, either by email or regular mail. They must get it from DFAS. The answer you got from IRIS is the same answer that chiefhouse has gotten, also me and I am sure many others. They don't have my Audit, so they say, so I sent them a copy that I got from DFAS and they won't process it. I guess, you wait and wait and they do nothing. The same thing for my Dependent Claim. I have no faith that I will ever get approval to either claim. Both of those two claims are, just push a button and the computer should take it over and process them.
