  1. Hey all. My claim seems to be going oddly and I was hoping to get some advice. I put together a fully developed claim for my conditions. I had tons of medical records, nexus letters, DBQs, buddy statements, and more. I decided to file the claim on the eBenefits website. When I went to upload the evidence, I uploaded my entire claim as a single PDF file (about 70 pages). When you upload evidence, they make you choose a category. I choose "correspondence" as the most general category for this file. In retrospect, I think this may have really screwed things up (more on this later). So two days (!!) after I submit the claim, I got a call from the VA medical center to schedule my C&P exams. I was disappointed because I hoped they would decide without needing the exams. In the back of my mind though, I'm thinking, how in the world could they have already reviewed all those records in that time and decided that I need exams. I went to the C&P exams and it was immediately apparent that the examiners did not have access to the records that I submitted. Fortunately, I brought all the records with me and tried to show the examiners as many as possible. At this point, I'm really concerned that the VA is not using the documents I uploaded in consideration of my claim. I went on the website and verified that I can actually see the file I uploaded. I found the document to be there and I can download it fine. I called the 1-800 number and asked about the document. After some looking around, the guy said "well I can see the document, but I don't know if the rater will use it". Not very encouraging. It's now just two days after my C&P exams, and eBenefits says my claim is preparing for decision with an estimated completion date of this week! If that's true, that means the claim would have been decided in less than 3 weeks. I'm really thinking that the rater somehow can't see or missed my records and thinks I submitted a FDC with no evidence. Probably really quick to process those...as an automatic denial. Not sure what I should do here. Maybe Fax them the records? Any suggestions are welcome and appreciated. Thank you!
  2. So I filed my claim May 22nd and am OCD about checking ebenefits. I checked every day and they needed nothing from me after I submitted all my info on the 21st of May and my DBQ from my VA psych on May 31st. Called DAV too check status and they said its passed the initial review and in the final hands of the person who goes over the rating before notification. Ebenefits still says preparation for decision. Should I watch it like a hawk all day and through the weekend to see if it changes to preparation for notification or does e benefits not update that fast? How will I know as soon as my rating is completed before I call my DAV back next week as he said to do. Will Ebenefits update any change immediately? Please advise.
  3. Hi All, Is there a specific forum for the VA's eBenefits site? Several issues with that site, but today I found one that takes the cake. I checked my personal information under the Manage tab at the top of the page Manage -> Compensation -> Update your direct deposit and contact information In the personal information, some person or program had filled in my secondary contact phone number with MY SOCIAL SECURITY NUMBER!!!!! I changed that immediately. But others should check that out. I suspect that it's an automatic form fill-in program that ran wild, but I am likely not the only one affected. If you see your SSN where a phone number should be, change it immediately and put in the primary contact number again if you don't have a secondary phone number. --QuietNow
  4. Ok so I checked my ebenefits today for my disability clam and it's at : Preparation for notification. This was really fast but my question: is there anywhere on ebenefits I can see how much they rated my disability ? or if I got denied ? I look at the pending disabilities and it just shows them as new clams still. Is there any way I can find out before they send out the package ?
  5. Good evening all. I can't seem to find a convincing answer on the topic. I receive my rating a few months ago and strongly disagree with some of the decisions. I was on Ebenifits and it appears that i could appeal the process on the site. However, i'm not sure if this is the same process as filing an NOD. Can someone please help clarify the difference..... Thank you
  6. Let me start by apologizing for the long post. I filed for an increase on my VA Ratings back in 2014. While I was out of the country I received letters for C&P exams around May or June of 2015 but didn't get them because I was in South America. When I came back I had a Denial letter from the VA waiting at home for me. In October 2015 I refiled the claim and received a letter telling me I should have appealed and not opened a New Claim. Now on the E-Benefits system it shows my 2015 claim as C&P type, with preparation for notification and the 2014 claim as administrative review also with preparation for notification. Both claims have been going back and froth from Preparation for notification to Pending decision approval about 3 or 4 times already. Every time it changes to a new completion date. When I call ebenefits number I get the same generic answer as if they were reading from a script. This is frustrating to me. After all this bouncing me back and forth I decided to contact IRIS and after almost a week I got an email with the following wording. " Your claim is complete. VA has made a decision on your claim and a packet of detailed information explaining your decision will be sent. Please allow at least 10 mailing days for your notification packet to arrive. We are sorry but we cannot discuss the decision with you until you receive your official notification letter in the mail. Once you receive that letter, please read it thoroughly and contact us if you have any questions. We are sorry but we are required to allow time for the initial notification package to be received through US Mail; however, if you have not received your notification letter after 10 mailing days has passed, please make a written request to the evidence intake center listed below and we will mail you another copy. Has any one had this happened before. I am currently rated at 80% combined which 30% is for PTSD I had a C&P appointment 2 months ago for PTSD and the Dr. Wrote on the report "Total Occupational and Social Impairment". I am just really worried about the outcome since I also applied for Unemployability. Anyone knows if this IRIS system is accurate at all? Thanks in advance.
  7. SO MY QUESTION IS,, IS ANYONE ELSE OUT THERE WAITING ON THE JUDGMENT OR DECISION FROM A JUDGE THAT HAS ALREADY HEARD YOUR CASE? THE REASON I ASK THIS IS BECAUSE,, MY CASE WAS HEARD IN MAY OF 2015 AND EBENNIES SAID AT THE TIME THAT MY APPEAL WAS WAITING FOR A JUDGE TO HEAR IT. FAST FORWARD ALMOST 2 YEARS AND EBENFITS STILL SAYS MY CASE IS WAITING FOR SCHEDULING TO BE HEARD. WHEN I CALL BVA THEY TELL ME THAT MY CASE HAS NOT GONE TO THE JUDGE YET FOR A DECISION... EBENES HAS ME STILL STUCK AT SCHEDULING FOR HEARING DATE. WHAT SHOULD IT SAY ON EBENNIES IF IVE ALREADY HAD MY CASE HEARD AND IM WAITING ON A DECISION?
  8. Hello. I'm totally new here, although I did a fair bit of reading on this site during my claim process (thanks very much for the info!). Anyhow, recently my claim finished up with an 80% combined rating. All in all it was very quick, just a few months. I only put in a claim for 2 conditions, a shoulder issue and depression. The depression came back for 70%, 20% on the shoulder. During the process, my claim bounced back and forth from pending approval to awaiting decision. During that time they also decided to add on surgery scars for my shoulder, which got a 0% rating. On Saturday, July 16th ebenefits updated with my decision and about a week later I got the actual letter in the mail. So there's the background. I left eBenefits alone after that and then decided randomly to take a look in there today. In doing so, I noticed something odd in the disabilities section. For some reason under Pending Disabilities, there is a listing of "Quality Review Correction", submitted 7/19, type of "REP", and nothing under Action. Does anyone happen to have an idea what this may mean? Am I at some risk for a sort of retroactive reduction in my rating? I just feel a bit tense as I had thought this was all over for a while but now this. If anyone has at least some idea of what it could mean, that would really help relieve my concerns. Thanks. :)
  9. Good day all, i know eBenefits is less credible than my 2yo girl, but mine at least has shown some consistency. Couple questions... mine is moved to PDA. How can I tell what I'm getting or how disappointed I will be, other than waiting for the official BWE/BBE? EBenefits, since updating this morning to PDA shows an appointment request was made but no details? Would this be related to closing out my claim or possible that only part of my claim is being worked on while the other is being deferred? any advice/guidance/insight would be appreciated. Thank you all!!
  10. Hello, This is my way of introducimg myself to the Hadit community as a whole. 12. Is eBenefits up to date

First time post, long time viewer. Quick question. Is eBenefits typically up to date? For example, my TBI claim is in the prep for decision phase, and has been for some time. Will I see an update on eBenefits before I get something in the mail, or are the chances high that I will randomly receive an envelope in the mail with the VA's decision before the site even updates? Seems like i check at least five times a day for an update. Or, is this another "case by case" or "depends on the region" etc. Thanks. Btw, love this blog/forum. Waiting has made me nearly insane, but I have a little hope after reading some of the success stories and other vets' stories. Though, trying not to get my hopes up.
  13. Appeal Closed in Ebenefits

Hello, I had three apeals for effective dates close on Jan 29, 2016. I received a letter from BVA on Feb 8, 2016 stating they were granting an earlier effective date for my 100% service connection. The original effective date was 2/03/2013 and now it's 2/04/2012. So my question is how long should I expect it to take for retroactive to hit my account? I've won one other appeal through BVA in 2010 for my 50% rating and retroactive hit within 3 weeks of the claim closing. My claim is flagged with hardship. Any advice would be appreciated. Thank you!
  14. Preparation For Notification

OK, my claim was at "Preparation For Notification" and then flipped to "Pending Decision Approval" and then almost immediately it switched back to "Preparation For Notification". I know everyone's claim is unique but does anyone have any clue as to how long it might take for ebenefits to show the approval info?
  15. Does anyone else know where this would be heading? Or is it just for the VLJ to sign.
  16. I'm so grateful that I am involved with my dad's claim. He was pending decision on April 8 (all c and p exams completed and favorable) and then he receives a letter on April 15 that he never uploaded his 526 EZ to ebenefits. Has this ever happened to one of you? Unfortunately for them, I was able to find it in ebenefits myself with the date stamp of 12-15. This shell game they are playing with these vets is unacceptable. ?
  17. Hello! Excuse me if I posted this in the weong section but I have hit a hicup in my claim process. Yesterday my claim changed status to preperation for notification. Then today it changed again. It went to Review of Evidence but in the notes it says the notification letter was sent. Also under disabilities it now says I have a rated 90 percent. So my question is, do I just need to wait for it to update? Is it possible this is some famous ebenny glitch? Also my estimated completetion date changed from 3/29 to 6/06-10/20. Did it actually go back to review of evidence even though it says notification sent AND it now shows I have a rating on my profile? Any advice is appreciated! Thank you!
  18. First off I apologize for any redundancy, I have been searching for answers for weeks on the blogs but just decided to post my own question instead. I retired on 1 Oct 2015 (21 and done) and my disability claim started that day. I had filed everything 180 days out from retirement with the VFW and finished all my C&P's by May 2015. With that being said I really didn't worry about it, I figured it would move through at the speed of maple syrup flowing uphill in Maine in winter and there wasn't much I could do about it. I casually checked Ebenefits and then in December noticed an estimated completion date of 29 Nov 2015-21 Jan 2016. Needless to say that day came and went and it still says Preparation for Decision. Early February I called the VFW who assisted me with my claim and they said it was still in Winston-Salem where all retiree claims go and to call back the end of February. So I called today and she said it was in Huntington, WV and was pending signatures, she said she couldn't give a completion time because she didn't know how long it would take to get signatures but to call back next week. Mind you, Ebenefits still says Prep for Decision. I know they don't keep Ebenefits up, but I was just looking to see what the consensus is on where I am in the process. Its been 5 months and all I hear is crickets I don't even really know what questions to ask the VFW or the VA hotline to see what is going on. Thanks for all your help Guardian 7
  19. Hi, I currently have an appeal and another claim that is in the pending decision phase. Is it appropriate or possible to open up a new claim at this time? I wasn't sure if you're able to carry more than one open claim at a time, other than the one that is in the appeal process. Thanks All! SecurityForces03
  20. claim status complete but?

claim was in prep for decision since december 23 now it shows complete. but, nothing else shows up in right colum. there is nothing showing like notice sent or decision sent. nothing. so called 800# and she said same. ur claim showes closed as of today but there is no notes or anytging else. she sent an iris for this and had nothing furthur to add. so my question is, is it possible claim complete but ro hasnt updated the notice sent portion ? anyone else go through this?

  22. Hello, I'm new here. I'm in a 6 year wait to receive compensation. Received letter from BVA dated November 4th, granting service connection for left knee disability, manifested by arthritis, and residuals of a bilateral foot injury, manifested by neuropathy as due to cold weather exposure. No further instruction were included as to rating and/or benefit info. Ebenefits was updated 11/26, indicating a combined disability rating of 30%, 10% for knee and each foot. I'm puzzled as to how RO has concluded rating on knee, due to the fact in 2013 I had a total knee replacement. I was expecting knee alone to be 30%, at bare minimum. This 12 page letter from BVA VLJ includes discussion of my total knee replacement and also three scopes done on knee prior to TKR. It's there in black and white! Is it likely RO has overlooked something so obvious?! Or is it possible they are still working on rating and just entered bare minimum rating on each to get me in system?? Just recently, as of 11/26 was I able to add dependents. Before then I couldn't update any info such as banking info and spouse and children without 30% rating. I have yet to receive any letter/paperwork from RO, though I'm anxiously awaiting to better understand their conclusions. I'd appreciate any advice and opinions. Thank you in advance!
  23. Well, some weirdness happened on eBenefits the past couple of days. Two days ago, all of my conditions under appeal on a NOD DRO review disappeared completely on my "Pending Disabilities" list on my eBenefits "Dashboard". They were replaced by one "new" claim of "back pain condition" with a filed date of 09/09/2015, and it showed "Pending Decision Notification". It sat like that until today when it also was gone, and eBenefits gave an error message that it was unable to retrieve my information on pending disabilities. The interesting thing was that it shows that I got a bump up to a total of 20% (was sitting at 10% for tinnitus and 0% for hearing loss, left ear). The condition awarded at the additional 10% was for degenerative arthritis in my back, with an EED of 06/10/2010, which is good because that is when I filed the initial claim. I checked my AB8 and yep, shows 20%, then called "Peggy" on the VA's 1-800 lie line just to extra-super-duper-confirm, and after a 30 minute wait, I confirmed the award. I quizzed the guy about my remaining multiple conditions still under NOD, and he said that it looked to him like they were still pending, then he said something interesting. He said that it looked to him that the VA decided this one outside the others because it looked easily ratable. I pressed a little more on things, and he of course became nervous, and then said that he couldn't give me additional information until I received my letter on that rated condition. What this one was a new claim that I filed in 2014 based on military medical records that I received from the NPRC. I had filed for back pain in 2010, and had simply assumed that the VA had my military records. I was wrong. After they denied me, I did a couple of requests for NPRC records (I know I've mentioned this time and time again.), and after receiving the magic records and noting that they were not in my C-File, I shot them off as part of a new claim, which the VA then "consolidated" into my pending NOD claim. Crazy, huh? So I have moved the football another 10 yards, thanks to a couple of free NPRC records requests, and retroed back to June 10, 2010 on that increased rating amount. I don't have retro yet, but Peggy (before he turned back into a VA phone drone) told me I should be seeing the retro hit my account soon, and that I'll be getting my SOC in the mail soon as well on this condition. Lord only knows that eBenefits and Peggy may lie, or just not know what is what, so we'll see when I get a paper document or a deposit. Just an update. Thanks again for all of you and the help you have provided me. I could not have gone even this far without your help, knowledge and support....and AskNod's book. Now the mission continues on the conditions still on appeal. Just don't forget: Check the NPRC for records too.....you never know what treasure may be hiding in one of their envelopes. My gold nugget in one of their envelopes helped greatly on this one particular condition. Half a league onward! Mark
  24. EBenefit update question

I had a question and was wondering if any of you, who are more experienced with the VA claim process, can give some insight on my situation. I am rated at 90%; 1 year out from discharge I was having issues that corresponded with sleep apnea, I told my VA doctor and she ordered me a sleep study, lo and behold - I was diagnosed with OSA and was given a CPAP machine. I submitted a claim for sleep apnea and was denied a percentage because it was not SC'ed. I was a little perturbed because I knew I had MANY documented sleep issues while active duty, but the VA still did not SC me. I went through my SMR with my VSO and we highlighted everything that was related to sleep issues/disturbances, we reopened the claim with submission of new evidence plus really good lay evidence (buddy statements from my actual platoon DOC who admitted that I complained about sleep issues while deployed in Afghanistan, only to deny me special attention and gave me Benadryl as a solution to my problems) - and a few other buddy statements from my former superiors who also denied me medical attention. My original date of estimated completion after reopening the claim was December 2016, but after waiting a month then checking Ebennies's; they moved the date to 9/13-9/20 with a preparation for notification. My question is this: On my ebennies list of disabilities, it's still showing as "sleep apnea not service connected", would this remain this way until I receive the big brown envelope? I just get concerned that I am still not SC'ed because of that. Obviously, that could still be the end result, but I just want to know if the update wouldn't happen until the letter is received by me. Any guidance or help would be greatly appreciated!
  25. Does anyone know how often Ebenefits updates status for Vets to view???
