  1. I tried to login to va.gov. They said my password was expired. Ok, so I created a new one. Then, they wanted "2 factor authentication" which was sent to a phone I had 4 years ago, which has been disconnected as it was a land line. So, it made login impossible. I went to my local VAMC. In the past, the librarian was able to "in person" authentice, necessary for "premium" account at my healthevet/ebenefits. No more library due to covid. So, I was directed to Patient Advocate. PATIENT ADVOCATE explained: They gave me the login help for my healthy vet/ ebenefits/va.gov at 1877 327-0022 or TTY 1-800-877 8339 Monday thru friday 7am to 7 pm CENTRAL time.
  2. I have Norton installed on my computer. Norton has a password feature that keeps all your passwords. When I try access ebenefits, I can't because I could only use passwords stored. But I didn't store my store Ebenefits. Now I can't use Ebenefits on my computer. Any and all help would be appreciated.
  3. It feels a little like success. Filed initial claim 1 Mar 11, checked e-bene today and the status changed from "review of evidence" to "preparation for decision. I'm just happy to see some movement, should I expect another long wait before things advance again? I really hadn't expected to see any movement or hear anything prior to the 1 year mark and I think perhaps I should stick with that premise, just wanted to get a few opinions. Shock
  4. I'll try and make this brief, #1) My 86-year-old, air force retired biological father's health has declined to a point where I have contacted his VA primary care doctor to determine his ability to drive safely. His GP agreed with my assessment and sent the DMV a retest required suspension. After talking with my father, he admitted he would not be able to pass a driving test, so he has voluntarily given up his license and now has a ID card only which I was directly involved in. I have sold his truck and paid off the loan that he had on that vehicle. #2) I have been added to my father bank account where his social security is being deposited #3) I have recently had him fill out a. Advanced Health Directive b. Durable Power of Attorney Both of which are notarized. #4) I have created and account in MyHealthEVet, and upgraded that account to premium so I can review his medical care and direct message his healthcare team (which I have been doing) #5) The MHV login credentials allow me to log into VA.GOV under his username. #6) I have created an Ebenifits account for him, however after multiple attempts to upgrade that account (he is not able to successfully recall the answers to the challenge questions in the allotted time). After speaking with the Ebenifits DS Login staff on the phone (multiple times) while my father was present we were still not able to upgrade his account. Recently, My dad and I again called the DS login tech support staff to try and work out the upgrade problem, but I was told that his account is now LOCKED due to suspicious and or fraudulently (me and my dads) activity and would be available for upgrade status in 31 days. What a Fng shit show. #6) I believe it's prudent for me to apply for Fiduciary responsibility for my father for the following reasons. a. I asked his wife, (my step mother) about his service connected disabilities and she said the only thing he gets from the VA are free hearing aids and medical care. When looking around in MHV and VA.GOV I found that for the past ten years he has been service connected for PTSD (Viet Nam Combat) and is also SC for hearing loss. VA.GOV shows that his combined SC is 40% and is paid approximately $750 dollars each month. After recently asking my father several times if he was aware of any service-connected benefits from the VA, if he has ever applied for such benefits or if he is aware of any monthly compensation for SC disabilities. He said no. I don't; know if his mental decline prohibits his ability to remember, or if he simply doesn't know. In either case, I feel that this needs to eventually be brought to his attention for the following reasons. b. My father’s Airforce retirement and his SC disability income are direct deposited into an account controlled by his wife (my step mother) which he has no realistic access to. My father is ware that his retirement income is deposited into this account, as is his wife's retirement income and that this account is used for the expenses related to the home, utilities, mortgage, tax and related expenses. He has no idea of the balance oif this account, or what the money is being used for. He certainly does not know that SC income from the past ten years is being deposited into this account. After speaking with his wife, I inquired with her about becoming a co-signer on this account but she is reluctant to do so. c. I am not suggesting any nefarious action or motive by his wife of 50+ years, as she has historically managed the finances within there relationship from the beginning. However, there relationship after 50 years if marriage from my point of view is rather caustic and I believe that they remain married (sleeping in separate rooms) for financial convenance more than anything else. d. My stepmother is aware that I now possess a notarized durable power of attorney relating to my father’s health and financial well fair. However, I am curious about the reluctance of my stepmother to allow me direct access to the joint account where my fathers retirement and SC disability is being deposited. Also, I am curious about the SC disability and how she claims she does not have knowledge of that income. Especially considering COLA notification and other VA letters specifically describing topic pertaining to SC income. For the past few months, I have worked with my stepsister (whom I get along with well-but does not have a positive relationship with my father) in working out the details of a TRUST that is being put together by a local lawyer. The trust will be designed to instruct me and my sister on the distribution of assets and keep a surviving spouse from transferring the property into his/her name and excluding the other children. I will mention that the estate after expenses (eg, Mortgage to Value) appears to be very low if not negative. I have purposefully not been more aggressive in attempting to find out the answers to the above questions, until the TRUST is finalized, which will happen sometime late April. Now, the question(s) #1) Do you believe I should apply for fiduciary responsibility for VA and also SS income and all of my fathers related expenses? (If so, where would I start)? #2) Do you believe I should mind my own business and not risk stirring up trouble which would possibly lead to the remaining years of my stepmother and fathers’ lives being even more caustic and complicated? If you have made it this far, thank you for letting me explain my situation and ask the two questions?
  5. I have a rather interesting situation maybe someone can shed a little insight on. To be honest it seems baffling to me. Monday my attorney told me that according to VBMS I am at 100% with an effective date of 2019. I believe this happened sometime last week. What prompted the email is according to my attorney the VA sent him a letter because they have a problem with our contigency agreement. I went back and read the agreement. It is a pretty straight forward agreement. No tricky sentences getting me to agree to anything out of the ordinary. The agreement is for 20% of backpay received. I am very grateful for my attorney. He took me from 50% to 80% to 100% and has earned every cent. I have been fighting the uphill battle since 2009 and am not close to the finish line. I am probably making an assumption but my guess is the VA does not plan on paying my attorney from the backpay. I have no idea what the issue is with the agreement. My attorney did say I should be getting a letter in the mail from the VA about this and I should see a deposit from the VA any day now. He did say it would be easier to invoice me after my deposit for the 20% and I am perfectly fine with that. My entire expectation was 20% of all backpay and I knew this going in. What is confusing to me is why does the VA have an issue now? When I went from 50% to 80% the paid my attorney directly. Why not now? But I digress....here is my question. VBMS shows a rating with an effective date. What could be holding up the update on ebenefits? Would the fact that this was based off an appeal from the BVA? My guess is someone is looking at the issue of backpay because a decision was made on attorney fees. Yet as I type this there is no update on Ebenefits and my appeal is closed.
  6. Hello, first time posting here, thank you to everyone who has posted before me. I received a grant for my BVA hearing on April 15, 2021 and I received the letter in the mail. I was granted an earlier effective date for unemployability for about a year and a half so I should get some retro pay. So I received the letter in the mail dated April 15th and on May 8th my Ebenefits updated under additional benefits tab showing the earlier effective date however there is no retro pay. Has anyone had any experience with your ebenefits being updated but no retro pay yet? How long am I looking at? Thank you again whoever can share some experience with BVA grants.
  7. Anybody ever have a new claim disappear off of eBenefits completely? I filed a new one based on information received from my SMR's when I received them from the National Personnel Records Center. The VA was supposed to have retrieved them under the VCAA, but they were never in my C-FILE, so I obtained them myself and filed them with the VA. I filed the new compensation claim in August, 2014, and it has been sitting on idle in Under Review for several months until a couple of days ago, when it disappeared completely. All other claims and information is still there. Anybody have this happen? Mark
  8. So on my threads about my first claim under AMA I stated I put this here to track time and the AMA process. My claim for Voiding Dysfunction was filed on May 8 2019 and closed June 16th 2019 (according to VA.GOV) so basically 36 days. I was denied, and will start writing my NOD. What is new besides the speed, is that on Ebenefits yesterday I noticed a new entry under my listed Disabilities. It will be good for others to start tracking this to see if this remains the standard. It was marked Pending Claims. Today after visiting VA.Gov and seeing my claim closed I went to Ebennies and looked under Disabilities and the DENIED claims are already showing. This is a change in process. It used to take some time to get Ebennies updated. usually at least 10 days. today however, the day after VA.gov says the claim closed, I see the following It will be good for others to start tracking this to see if this remains the standard I am tagging in a few people who I know are active here and may have recent claims under AMA. @paulstrgn @vetquest @shrekthetank1 @Buck52 @jamesriley1990 @richard1234 @Oceanbound @Richard1954 @Amazing Becky hopefully you all will help track this change. It can alleviate some of the "wait time" stress as we look for the BBE in the mail. If you all see someone asking about processing time for a claim please ask them to track for this notification under Ebenefits Disability link. 9. Does anyone know how often Ebenefits updates status for Vets to view???
  10. Yesterday my claim moved to Prep for decision, this was a week after my latest C&P, I was feeling optimistic that the estimated completion date of 9/4 was reasonable. Today it moved back to review of evidence and my date oushed to 9/14. This is a claim with 1 increase, 2 new, 2 secondary. I filed my claim 9/24/18 it seems like a long time for a claim. Anyway, my question is: have any of you had the claim move from "prep for Decision" only to regress to review of evidence? If so, what was the timeline like?
  11. Hello, I checked ebenefits and it said I received a GRANT from the CAVC for increased rating "anklyosis of the shoulder." I had appealed for depression and anxiety as well and they were not addressed on ebenefits so I am guessing it is still on remand at the BVA level. Ebenefits also stated that my remand would take 16-24 months. I am currently 60% with 10 for tinnitus, 20 for ankle, 20 for shoulder, 20 for shoulder radicupathy, 10 for knee. What does all this mean? if I am not providing the information needed for input I am happy to do that but at this time I dont know what else to provide you guys. Thank you.
  12. my appeal status has changed to Prep for notification as of yesterday. With the change my dependents have also disappeared from my award and is now in the drop box of “ not on award". Has this happened to anyone else? Im hoping there’s been a change to my increase and this ebennies way of updating rating. Any positive stories? Thanks!
  13. The claim status and historical claims has moved from ebenefits to va.gov. I don't like the layout of vets.gov as it doesn't give you as many details as ebeneifts.
  14. First time post, long time viewer. Quick question. Is eBenefits typically up to date? For example, my TBI claim is in the prep for decision phase, and has been for some time. Will I see an update on eBenefits before I get something in the mail, or are the chances high that I will randomly receive an envelope in the mail with the VA's decision before the site even updates? Seems like i check at least five times a day for an update. Or, is this another "case by case" or "depends on the region" etc. Thanks. Btw, love this blog/forum. Waiting has made me nearly insane, but I have a little hope after reading some of the success stories and other vets' stories. Though, trying not to get my hopes up.
  15. Hey all just want to share what I think of is good news, even though I still have to sit and wait. On 8//16/2018 I had a C&P review for my PTSD which was 70% with 10% Tinnitus rating. I was initially rated in 2013 and I had made no requests for adjustments. VA just mandated this C&P. Today, 8/24/2018 ebenefits was up and down all day so I could not really read anything on my statuses until 6 pm PST. I went in and I am, according to ebenefits, at 100% and in the letters I see my rating is P&T. I am over the moon. This RO must be the rocket docket or the QTC doc really wrote a solid case for the bump. or both. Either way I am now in the "watch the mailbox" phase since I won't believe it until i either get paid or the packet arrives. Thanks for all the input from everyone on other posts and my rambling questions.
  16. My husband filed for reconsideration several weeks ago. This was through DAV and the Cleveland VA. We got notice from the DAV that it had been filed and sent to VA. Shouldn't the claim be listed on eBenefits by now or do reconsiderations not show up there? Thanks, Kate
  17. Hi, all. I searched high and low for an answer to this question, and I figured other veterans might be curious if anyone knows the answer, too. When the VA schedules you for a reevaluation of your already service-connected compensable disability, one of the possibilities is the VA could draw the conclusion that your condition has improved and propose a reduction. For that process, the VA is required to notify you of the proposal (this will be by mail, most likely) and afford you time to respond. However, my question is this: most of us use eBenefits to track the status of our claims. When our claim moves to "complete," we go to the "disabilities" tab to see the percentage or check out the VA Letters (i.e., VB8) to see percentages, compensation amounts, total and permanent status, etc. This is usually a week or two ahead of the letter arriving in the mail. Question: If your claim moves to "complete" in eBenefits, and the VA decision is a -proposed- rating reduction, will the percentages change in eBenefits? or the Letter Language? Will a new claim appear that says "proposal for reduction" or something similar? Just curious what eBenefits looks like when your claim moves to complete and the VA decision is a reduction. eBenefits is unofficial, of course. :) Thanks!
  18. Hey all. My claim seems to be going oddly and I was hoping to get some advice. I put together a fully developed claim for my conditions. I had tons of medical records, nexus letters, DBQs, buddy statements, and more. I decided to file the claim on the eBenefits website. When I went to upload the evidence, I uploaded my entire claim as a single PDF file (about 70 pages). When you upload evidence, they make you choose a category. I choose "correspondence" as the most general category for this file. In retrospect, I think this may have really screwed things up (more on this later). So two days (!!) after I submit the claim, I got a call from the VA medical center to schedule my C&P exams. I was disappointed because I hoped they would decide without needing the exams. In the back of my mind though, I'm thinking, how in the world could they have already reviewed all those records in that time and decided that I need exams. I went to the C&P exams and it was immediately apparent that the examiners did not have access to the records that I submitted. Fortunately, I brought all the records with me and tried to show the examiners as many as possible. At this point, I'm really concerned that the VA is not using the documents I uploaded in consideration of my claim. I went on the website and verified that I can actually see the file I uploaded. I found the document to be there and I can download it fine. I called the 1-800 number and asked about the document. After some looking around, the guy said "well I can see the document, but I don't know if the rater will use it". Not very encouraging. It's now just two days after my C&P exams, and eBenefits says my claim is preparing for decision with an estimated completion date of this week! If that's true, that means the claim would have been decided in less than 3 weeks. I'm really thinking that the rater somehow can't see or missed my records and thinks I submitted a FDC with no evidence. Probably really quick to process those...as an automatic denial. Not sure what I should do here. Maybe Fax them the records? Any suggestions are welcome and appreciated. Thank you!
  19. Ok so I checked my ebenefits today for my disability clam and it's at : Preparation for notification. This was really fast but my question: is there anywhere on ebenefits I can see how much they rated my disability ? or if I got denied ? I look at the pending disabilities and it just shows them as new clams still. Is there any way I can find out before they send out the package ?
  20. So I filed my claim May 22nd and am OCD about checking ebenefits. I checked every day and they needed nothing from me after I submitted all my info on the 21st of May and my DBQ from my VA psych on May 31st. Called DAV too check status and they said its passed the initial review and in the final hands of the person who goes over the rating before notification. Ebenefits still says preparation for decision. Should I watch it like a hawk all day and through the weekend to see if it changes to preparation for notification or does e benefits not update that fast? How will I know as soon as my rating is completed before I call my DAV back next week as he said to do. Will Ebenefits update any change immediately? Please advise.
  21. Hi All, Is there a specific forum for the VA's eBenefits site? Several issues with that site, but today I found one that takes the cake. I checked my personal information under the Manage tab at the top of the page Manage -> Compensation -> Update your direct deposit and contact information In the personal information, some person or program had filled in my secondary contact phone number with MY SOCIAL SECURITY NUMBER!!!!! I changed that immediately. But others should check that out. I suspect that it's an automatic form fill-in program that ran wild, but I am likely not the only one affected. If you see your SSN where a phone number should be, change it immediately and put in the primary contact number again if you don't have a secondary phone number. --QuietNow
  22. Good evening all. I can't seem to find a convincing answer on the topic. I receive my rating a few months ago and strongly disagree with some of the decisions. I was on Ebenifits and it appears that i could appeal the process on the site. However, i'm not sure if this is the same process as filing an NOD. Can someone please help clarify the difference..... Thank you
  23. Let me start by apologizing for the long post. I filed for an increase on my VA Ratings back in 2014. While I was out of the country I received letters for C&P exams around May or June of 2015 but didn't get them because I was in South America. When I came back I had a Denial letter from the VA waiting at home for me. In October 2015 I refiled the claim and received a letter telling me I should have appealed and not opened a New Claim. Now on the E-Benefits system it shows my 2015 claim as C&P type, with preparation for notification and the 2014 claim as administrative review also with preparation for notification. Both claims have been going back and froth from Preparation for notification to Pending decision approval about 3 or 4 times already. Every time it changes to a new completion date. When I call ebenefits number I get the same generic answer as if they were reading from a script. This is frustrating to me. After all this bouncing me back and forth I decided to contact IRIS and after almost a week I got an email with the following wording. " Your claim is complete. VA has made a decision on your claim and a packet of detailed information explaining your decision will be sent. Please allow at least 10 mailing days for your notification packet to arrive. We are sorry but we cannot discuss the decision with you until you receive your official notification letter in the mail. Once you receive that letter, please read it thoroughly and contact us if you have any questions. We are sorry but we are required to allow time for the initial notification package to be received through US Mail; however, if you have not received your notification letter after 10 mailing days has passed, please make a written request to the evidence intake center listed below and we will mail you another copy. Has any one had this happened before. I am currently rated at 80% combined which 30% is for PTSD I had a C&P appointment 2 months ago for PTSD and the Dr. Wrote on the report "Total Occupational and Social Impairment". I am just really worried about the outcome since I also applied for Unemployability. Anyone knows if this IRIS system is accurate at all? Thanks in advance.
  24. SO MY QUESTION IS,, IS ANYONE ELSE OUT THERE WAITING ON THE JUDGMENT OR DECISION FROM A JUDGE THAT HAS ALREADY HEARD YOUR CASE? THE REASON I ASK THIS IS BECAUSE,, MY CASE WAS HEARD IN MAY OF 2015 AND EBENNIES SAID AT THE TIME THAT MY APPEAL WAS WAITING FOR A JUDGE TO HEAR IT. FAST FORWARD ALMOST 2 YEARS AND EBENFITS STILL SAYS MY CASE IS WAITING FOR SCHEDULING TO BE HEARD. WHEN I CALL BVA THEY TELL ME THAT MY CASE HAS NOT GONE TO THE JUDGE YET FOR A DECISION... EBENES HAS ME STILL STUCK AT SCHEDULING FOR HEARING DATE. WHAT SHOULD IT SAY ON EBENNIES IF IVE ALREADY HAD MY CASE HEARD AND IM WAITING ON A DECISION?
  25. Hello. I'm totally new here, although I did a fair bit of reading on this site during my claim process (thanks very much for the info!). Anyhow, recently my claim finished up with an 80% combined rating. All in all it was very quick, just a few months. I only put in a claim for 2 conditions, a shoulder issue and depression. The depression came back for 70%, 20% on the shoulder. During the process, my claim bounced back and forth from pending approval to awaiting decision. During that time they also decided to add on surgery scars for my shoulder, which got a 0% rating. On Saturday, July 16th ebenefits updated with my decision and about a week later I got the actual letter in the mail. So there's the background. I left eBenefits alone after that and then decided randomly to take a look in there today. In doing so, I noticed something odd in the disabilities section. For some reason under Pending Disabilities, there is a listing of "Quality Review Correction", submitted 7/19, type of "REP", and nothing under Action. Does anyone happen to have an idea what this may mean? Am I at some risk for a sort of retroactive reduction in my rating? I just feel a bit tense as I had thought this was all over for a while but now this. If anyone has at least some idea of what it could mean, that would really help relieve my concerns. Thanks. :)
