Hi, new to the forum and thank you in advance if you can provide any insight. I talked to the VA today because I was confused about my claim, they approved part of my claim and deferred the other half of it. I searched a lot of post here and being deferred is normal for the va, but what confused me was why they deferred it. The reason they deferred my TBI was because they wanted a IMO (independent medical opinion) and also flagged my TBI and major depression for higher evaluation and entitlement. I had a C&P for both of these months ago, plus many pages from C file and from tricare to support my claim. My questions are: - I though you had to appeal to have your case reviewed by the higher level evaluation. I submitted the claim, evidence, and C&P and they moved it to higher evaluation on their own. -They also requested their own IMO following the C&P for TBI, is this bad or normal? The VA rep told me that the 0% rating is a place holder stating that it is service connected while it is undergoing higher evaluation and not to worry, but all I can do is worry.

I have just received my rating for 2 items at 20%..........Now looking at my rate, I noticed that I have 3 in deferment.....My award is the rate for 20%......What does this mean? there is no pending c&p noted on the deferred items. All it did was push my date for those items May 28- Jun 29th 2018 but I will be getting back pay from may 31 2017 for the 2 items they rated me on. But on the other hand I'm looking at this.......effective date of change.....With my other items, plus unemployable which I noted is not even listed under disabilities, but is listed under my claims.. I left out certain items intentionally since they are not what concerns me. What does all this means? Any helpful explanations would be grateful. Include? Hello, everyone! I've been on this site reading all the valuable information while I waited for my new claims to process. A local VSO initiated my intent to file, back in March of this year, and I brought in all of the requested documents for an appointment on July 11. This is when the file was formally submitted to the VA. I had two new claims. I was given two C&P appointments, for each issue...one in July, and the other in August. I called Peggy to find out the status, last Thursday, and I was told that my file had been updated that very day. It appeared there was a rating decision, but I would have to wait for the BBE to find out the details. I checked the site again, a few days later. I finally could see that I had been rated (at 70%) for one issue, but the second issue (bilateral pes planus) had been deferred. On Ebenefits, the entire claim, it appeared, went from "preparing for notification," back to the "gathering evidence" stage. When I called for an explanation, I was told that it possibly needed another signature, but Peggy wasn't for sure. Peggy also said that, according to the notes, there was nothing that the VA needed from me. Today, my Ebenefits account was updated, and it had new information. The new information was put under claim status as "Request 2: Award returned to local VSR for correction." (I inserted a link below to a screenshot of my claim status.) Hello, This is my way of introducimg myself to the Hadit community as a whole. I only surf forums and give opinions and such to things that relate to me personally and my Battle with the VA I wanted to get not only all of these tags talked about, but i would hope to be able to at least get all of those abbrvs broken down for the people that come to this site in need I have noticed a lot of us old hats talk to each other in a comfortable, approachable, yet sometimes maybe even un-understandable to those who aren't in our War with the Rap-i um, mean Rating Officers Some of the people stopping by here for well deserved and needed help may not even be Vets, but their Spouses, their guardians, and most Unfittingly too often their Widows I hope to try to build a little list, where if someone came here, they would have, oh, lets say a nice rusty ass old anchor to grip on to, you know, to help them ride out this Hellacious Hurricane of a system we face Add any word, phrase, Article or Chaptet number of any Law, Rule, Regulation that you would like to help pass on, well, not only the cold logical definition, but tye way it helped you in YOUR Battle. i want this thread to be open and honest, but please, don't get lost and sidetracked trying to impress the community, if a discussion blooms from seeds planted here, take your conversation to the Mail system, and coax them to sproutlings on your own dime, and come back with your Harvest of Ideas. Only we have each other, as i have stood on my own for this last 2ish years, i have wanted something more Here, there be monsters, hide no truths, hedge no bets, the deaper we are able to cut on here, the finer and more powerful Claims we can make. Always remember, we should be advancing, and when i steped into Hadit, i started to feel something different on this Battlefield, ever so softly, in the muck, my arm tired from holding back the Tide of VA bullshit... Our issue is, the VA makes us literally be the David to their Goliath. They demand that we beg for our scraps. Very few Vererans are in the position to demand their Just Compensation because first off, we are broken. Assailed by disabilitys they expect us to fight. Alone! They punish us horribly with Time, and indifference......they teach us to Hate the individuals in their system, Whistleblowers ignored except when it boosts Ratings yet never allowing us Veterans ourselves the ability or TOOLS to help OURSELVES. i dont want someone coddling me, i can repair my own engine given time and proper tools. No way in Hell am i gonna try to pull impacted lugnuts off with my teeth now am I? Today 6 Jul 15, I called the Houston number and was told my claim is in something called "deferred status". Been in this status since 3 Jun 15. I was thinking maybe they want something else from me, but I have not received anything in mail and nothing shows up on Ebennies requesting anything from me. Anyone know what this status might mean? Will appreciate your thoughts. Dick Hill

I revieved a partial award in the mail yesterday. Last week I had noticed my status on ebenefits go from notification back to review of evidence. I know now it's because two items are listed as deferred. 1) Entitlement to Individual Unemployability and 2) Major Depressive Disorder and Generalized Anxiety Disorder. My new award is for Rotator cuff 10%. which doesn't change my combined rating of 80%. I'm confused on the Major Depression deferral because I was rated 70% Major Depressive and others to get me combined 80% in Jan 2012 and back dated to Aug 2010. Why is it showing up now as deferred? My award letter includes forms to update dependents but I already did that and they already sent me retro for that back in Feb 2012. Thanks, xpertshot
