Hello All, After a 7 year wait, I won my VA appeal. The problem is my new rate (1 July) and retro pay are calculated by the "Veteran Alone" rate. I have a spouse and child. I checked Ebenefits and the dependent status is correct there. I'm not sure how a mistake like that can be made. I called the 800 number which was a waste of time. A rep from IRIS was able to take action. She said she would send a notice over to the "Dependent Dept." Has anyone encountered anything like this? Is there a way to follow-up. I am 100% P&T and I applied for and was granted Helpless Child for my stepson before his 18th birthday with little or no problems from the VA. He is now over 18 and eligible for Social Security benefits, but we are having issues with the SSA and the VA. Social Security is docking my son's SSI payments and counting the helpless child payment as income for him because I am getting the helpless child payment on my VA disability. She was still in high school and has since moved on to college. The first decision letter was dated 11/15/13 and stated that she had been added back from 2/01/13 to 6/01/13-which was from the time she was cut off in January until the time she graduated high school.
