Here is an odd question about the C-file. Is EVERYTHING done by the VAMC supposed to end up in your C-file? I do mean everything. The reason I ask, is that in other posts here I have mentioned missing records from the VAMC New Orleans. When I saw my new VA Primary Care Doc for the first time, she asked tons of questions, which was great. In answer to one of them I mentioned that the VAMC New Orleans lost a bunch of my records and I was pissed about it. She had her unit's Social Worker call me to offer assistance on the issue. It turns out there is something called the Joint Legacy Viewer, which is an application that has insight into every medical record the VA has on you no matter what system it is in. Apparently there are several different systems your records could be in depending on location and year you were seen. When I went yesterday for a follow up on my foot surgery, I went to the Social Workers office and in a couple minutes he pulled up a set of treatment notes about the VNG I had for my vertigo back in 2013 that VAMC New Orleans says is "lost". Those notes are not in my c-file. So I am curios if anyone knows if some files are not put in the c-file. These notes I found don't follow the typical format that VAMC uses and happens to list the Procedure Codes associated with each treatment or test done. For example for the Vertigo they list procedures 92540 through 92547 as being done and the results appended elsewhere. i am going to make an appointment to spend a day searching those files, but I also want to get all of them so I need to figure out that path
Hello......does anyone know a different route to try to get active duty service records other than the national archives?.im having a terrible time getting the national archives and the v a to locate my active duty service records, basically meaning they cant...i served active duty air force from oct 81 -feb 85 ,and ga air national guard from mar85-mar88. i have received all my records from the national guard but none from active duty, and i have made at least 4 attempts to retrieve them from the national archives. every package sent to me contains my entrance physical, exit physical dd-214 and records from the ga national guard. its like there is a 3 year and 4 month gap in my military service...... the DAV has been no help at all either. please help........
j92mike posted a question in VA Disability Compensation Benefits Claims Research ForumI first got seen at my local VA clinic in Athens GA last year when things were at their worst when I say worst I mean I was ready to wrap my van around a pole. I was diagnosed with type 2 Diabetes, about three years out of service. I had gestational diabetes with my second child born in 2011 when I was about a year out of service and was borderline with my first child in 2010 while I was still in the service. I wanted to know if it is a condition that can be claimed? Also my therapist says that I have PTSD and anxiety and mild depression. I did claim anxiety and depression but not PTSD. Also, I have had an appeal going on since July 2012, it's still in phase 1 cause of a screw up by my lawyer I wanted to ask for advice if it's worth it to stick it out with the appeal or start a new fully developed claim with new evidence and another C&P exam. Also, when I left service in June 2010 I got a copy of my medical records but not my mental health records. I was being treated for three years. The VA doesn't have my mental health records either. Can someone tell me where I can obtain a copy of my records from? When I went to do my C&P my examiner told me all she had was that I was seen by mental health my last three months of service. I understand my case can take longer cause I have multiple conditions that I put in for I am just in need of some advice. Thanks in advance, Natalie
jemorrison75460 posted a question in VA Disability Compensation Benefits Claims Research ForumI finally got my C-file and was it a mess. there were very few medical records pertaining to my claim. even the ones i sent to them myself were not included. All Va medical records with my diagnoses of parkinsons were missing . To top it off my service and medical records are classified to the point my state senator said she can no longer pursue them for me. Thats right my medical records are classified. at least thats the answer i got. so at this point my file Claim has been on a review officers desk for over a year for the 4th time. I have never been informed by waco tx va of a hearing date even with multiple written requests for me to attend. I did not serve in war time even though i was in during the end of the cold war. and did see some nasty crap. Not sure what to do at this point, the VA claims I have about 5 years of life left at the age of 46. And they do acknowledge that my condition is not genetic in nature and is a result of chemical and or radiation exposure in the military. They were the ones who pressed the issue of me filling for disability. I am lost n living on social security and not much money if any lol.
