  4. Ok guys and gals, im back after a few months with more information. So for a little background, my effective date is 12/12/16. It moved to prep for decision in 2 weeks and stayed there for a few months. then it went back to gathering evidence, at which time i recieved a phone call scheduling me for an exam on march 25. 10 minutes later they called back saying i could come in for an exam tomorrow (which was march 1st). I attended my c&p exam for bipolar/depression- and the examiner concluded the exam by telling me to go directly to MH because im not mentally healthy or
  5. Many may not be aware that one can request that a Aid and Attendance claim CAN be expedited when showing that you have been diagnosed with a terminal illness when you file your Aid and Attendance claim. Long story, short version: I have been on the non-service connected pension which currently is $1,072.00 per month. In April of 2016 I was diagnosed with Stage III B terminal lung cancer. i then needed to file a claim for Aid and Attendance for help with my daily needs. Which is an additional $716.00 per month. I was worried about how long my claim would take to be approved/denied.
  6. Hi, I started receiving death pension benefits through the VA in 2009. March of 2014 the VA terminated said benefits. i neglected to respond to their notices of an alleged overpayment in the allotted time frame. However i did in fact follow through with a notice of disagreement, request for hearing and a waiver request. The waiver request was eventually granted at which time i reapplied for the death pension which has since been reinstated. During the 10 months that it took to resolve this i was financially eligible to receive the pension. The VA agreed and sent payment for those 10 months

  9. Well, I filed (for the 4th time across 28yrs) for my spine (Spondylolethesis) and depression back in November 2015. In May of this year, I got the letter - 70%. I am thankful but I had questions about backdating to the first claim I filed for my spine which was in September of 1988 (I also had applied in 2001 and in 2006 - denied each time). They had failed to consider the MEB and PEB findings the previous 3 times, which they had access to (National Archives), and ignored my DD214 which stated "discharged with severance pay." My C-file clearly shows the original application dated to 1988. What
  10. A friend is receiving $3,000+ for being rated 100% P & T. He is married but maybe looking at divorce in the future. Will his wife receive half of his $3,000+ in the event they are divorced? Thanks
  11. I recently met a Korean vet who is 83 years old and is in a wheelchair. He was in the military from April 9, 1952 to Sept. 18, 1954. His disability is not from combat although he did have hearing problems from his experience with heavy artillery. He is able to use the VA hospital because he has his honorable discharge papers. This vet has asked for a pension because he spent time in Korea in 540 Company, 8th Battalion . His combat records were destroyed in the 1973 fire in Chicago. He has been told he can't have his pension because he can't prove he was sent to Korea. At his age it will be di
  12. I am currently receiving the NSC pension I didn't even know anything about it until early 2011 it took me only six month to get the whole process done. I got a letter in the mail today saying that I could not add my dependents because I didn't have a rating of 30% or higher. It took the Va since last year Oct (when i filed for them) to tell me this and send a letter. Can some one shine some light on this. I didn't know I need to have a service connected rating of 30%. Currently my service connected rating is at 0% and I do have appeals in the system so i can get a higher SC rating. When I r
