  1. Hi All - I am new to the community, just found you guys a few days ago, because I had concerns about my initial claims process. My question is: Which is better - telling the VA to pull my records, or give them the records and letters I have or will get? It has been eight years since I separated, and because of my mental health condition (depression, PTSD symptoms, anxiety) and just trying to fit into civilian life, I have been unable to begin my claims process. With the help of friends and family, I have now been able to do things like go through my military records (diff
  2. Ok, 25th of Oct was 60 days for records request, and they have pushed it out until 25th of Nov. What is going on.
  3. I read something a while back about requesting a Vista cd from the VA? It's supposed to contain all notes in a patient's records and not just what is shown on Blue Button. I would like to get a copy of all my medical/administrative notes, to include interdepartmental communications between doctors. I cannot find the forum/thread where I read this before. Can someone point me in the right direction of that thread or how to go about getting all of my records please (this is something different than a C file)? Thanks so much for your help!
  4. Hello all, Let me start by saying thank you in advance for any help or information provided. Quick backstory: The first time I filed was in May of 2012(I lived in El Paso, Tx at the time), it was for PTSD, bursitis in hips, carpal tunnel, and a slew of other joint problems, however life happened and I missed a C&P exam that I was unaware of and the claim was denied at the beginning of 2013. I understand that this is my fault, but I did learn that the VA found nothing in my army records to justify a claim for any of the physical problems. The second time I filed was in F
  5. I'm new to this site, and somewhat novice with claims as I've ignored them since my discharge in 2012, but I have some questions that I've yet to find answers for that hopefully someone can help me with: In a nutshell, my story is I did my four years, two hellish combat tours to Afghan, got out in 2012, immediately filed my claims for a few disabilities like back and shoulder issues and got a 40% rating total. I've since not looked back as none of that concerns me. My issue now is that I was sent to a mandatory PTSD screening during one of my visits that year, and the examiner kind of wen
  6. I have been reading along for several years now. Finally managed to join after weeks of trying to register. I was AD USAF 1986-1990 then became dependent until present. I have been engaged in a conflict with the Oakland regional office over my military medical records. We hand carried records from station to station until everything was scanned prior to our return from the UK in 2007. Now I only have dependent records from 2004 to present with my local base medical center and the VA archive just sent a CD to my congressman that only has the last 2 years of medical records ! They included all k
  7. I put in a FOIA request for my C-file back in March 2015. I expected to get a box or large envelope of documents. Instead this is what I received Friday. The CD is PDF and searchable, which I like. However, I am still missing service records from Desert Storm so maybe VA doesn't have them. Can anyone tell me another route to get them?
  8. Folks: Although I filed a FDC Claim with all of my DOD, VA and Civilian Medical Records and all were provided to the Regional Office "hard-copy" , I was under the impression that VBA still automatically requests a Vets Service Medical Records (SMR's) from DOD as well as all of the VA Records to be loaded into the new VBMS System because of the "Duty to Assist" Requirements - even if it is duplicating the records that I've already sent in and they have? IS this True? Recently, "ebennefits" is saying that I need to load even more evidence? So, I called the 1800 number and was told th
  9. FYI....Combat Veterans need to utilize VetCenters. Especially, if you're struggling with your local VAMC. I was slowly and eventually completely becoming disappointed with my Veteran Affairs Medical Center. I've always depended on the counselors at the VetCenter and I truly believe they helped save my life. Just keep in mind. The VAMC doesn't have access to your treatment records at any VetCenter. Therefore, if you need the VetCenters treatment records to support your claim. You'll need to request such information from a particular counselor at the VetCenter. They will provide you a le
  10. Hi all! Thank you for your service! Husband was just rated at 0% for TBI, this is service connected but No compensation? He was also denied completely on his Epilepsy & shoulder dislocation. He was in Special ops, maybe his records were classified, which is why they couldnt compensate or put the two together, because they could not access records? I am not sure how he can be rated service connected but 0%? TBI can later cause epilepsy, and clearly this happened to him. What do we do? We are trying to obtain his records that are now archived at ST. LOUIS, MO. and planning to g
  11. I'm currently applying for a position within a Police Department... what military records will an agency/employer be able to receive? My question is, will they be able to get full copies of my service record, medical records, etc... or just my DD Form 214 and whatever I provide to them. I didn't know if there is a "by law" clause for Veterans on what potential employers can get from the military. Thanks
