Finally Broke Down And Got A Rep

Question

I finally decided to go ahead and get a service officer. I signed my POA last week and mailed it to him. This morning I emailed him and asked him if he had received it. He told me he had and that he had turned it in and requested to see my file. I told him that was fine as long as it did not slow down the process and that I had C&Ps done in March here is his reply.

"It will not slow down adjudicating your claim. The process on 99% of the claims is 11-14 months from the date that it was established. The C&P is electronically requested, printed out and added to your file folder. It then goes back to the file cabinet until the adjudicator starts working the month that the claim was filed and the digits assigned to him/her."

I take it this is pretty normal

He certainly has a lot more experience than me but for me once I had a C&P the decision usually cane pretty quickly. A month or two for me. I would very much like to see what other Hadit Members have to say.

Good Luck on your claim.

Huskerfanfl,

The senario your SO presented seems pretty accurate. However, sometimes when one request a copy of their C-file while a claim is pending, it may slow down the process. It just all depends where the claim is at in the whole process when the request is submitted.

huskerfanfl,

I filed claim for Peripheral Neuropathy in my feet due to DMII on Dec. 21, 2006 through a County VSO. I recieved notice from VARO with VCAA enclosed on about Feb 7, 2007. My C&P was Feb 15. The letter of decision was recieved on March 24. It was favorable to the extent that it allowed SC for both lower extremeties at 30% each extremity. All of this is dealing with the Portland, Oregon RO. So in my case it seemed to move very fast. A friend of mine also working with the same VSO seems to have more difficulty in the decision process taking several months to heasr from VARO.

I know the guy in Louisville you are talking too. He is pretty intelligent and will help you. My advice to you is to be dilligent with the DAV at the regional office. I mean stay on top of your claim.
