Question

Hi Vets, Family & Friends of Vets,

I am 30% for my feet & wrist and have been dealing with the VA for a few years, But I am really a novice....I am so fed up with the VA, I filed a NOD for my feet, etc, and even filled out the forms for them to get my civilain doctors records. After several months, they sent me more forms to fill out for them to view the civilian doctors records. I dodnt fill them out again. I have stamped copies of every thing I turned in.

I have a VA ID card that say's I am service connected, and I finally decided to see an actual VA DR. Well, I didnt see a Dr, I didn't seee A PA, I saw a nurse. Any way, she refered me to a foot Dr, Stress test, Etc....

Whell, I had an apointment with a foot Dr and he says my feet are in bad shape an I need a foot / ancle braces. I asked him if I could get a letter to help my NOD - the VA only gave me 10% for my feet. He said to go to the records branch at get a copy. I am trying to increase my %.

I have the upmost respect for our combat Vets, I must say with reservation that I am only a state side Vet. I was Actve Duty 81 - 87 (Infantry) then went in the reserves and was mobilized in 2003 and then again in 2004. I guess I am ranting, but anyway since I decided to go to the VA for my feet, I have now got a letter with a bunch of inserts saying I am a Priority 2 and my Health care is "free". Is this true? It also said that I have to renuew every year! How do I do that, I don't remember any accessmenrt other than the fact that my GAF is 60 and my cilivian doctors say I am disabled and can only have a sit down job. I gave this evidence to the VA for my NOD.

Any way, I wish to thank our resident Website Saint Berta and others who has been kind enough to answer my basic pathetic email questions.

First: Go to your private doctors and get your own copies. make copies and send the copies to the va via certified mail. Do not count on the VA to get non government records.

Second: File for an increase on t he feet. The VA should give you a C@P exam for that and the Doc can add his input.

Third. Being 30 percent, you still have certain copays and insurance billing. Helathcare has no copays for Priority Group 2 but medications do. You need to be 50 percent of higher and all copays go away. You have to provide the VA with a means test each year until you get 50 percentSC then you only have to update health insurance changes.

Hope this helps.

John,

Thank you for the info. I wounder if there is some data I can research to find out how much a co-pay is and meds are based on my "means test"

Regards,

Joe
