Thinking Of Moving To Tennessee........

Question

I know, I know, I'm posting this in the wrong section.

I apologize. I couldn't find the "Socializing Section", where I guess I should have posted this question to.

Anyway, my Son is entering the Master's Degree program at Middle Tennessee State University (Recording Arts). He is graduating in a couple weeks from University of Louisiana, Lafayette. I don't have anything holding me where I'm at, now (no job, etc.) and I've always loved Tennessee. Might as well just move on up to Tennessee and save some money.........he'll have to have somewhere to live and I can live anywhere so why not just get us a place up there (he has picked the lonnngest Masters program that I know of at three years, and he'll probably want to stay for his PhD).

And, there is a VAMC right there, but I don't know anything about it.....?

Gee Larry will I ever get my Starbucks at DALLAS VAMC?

Hey good luck that sounds like a real good reason to me and I bet that it will help him.

Larryj,

Hi. Well I was in Murfreesboro in April 2007 with my kids, just passing through. It is beautiful there, no doubt. Here is the link for the city, give the city clerk a call and ask about VAMC and anything else. There is a lot of info on the site, so maybe you can find what your looking for. I live in NY( bout an hour+ north of the city) and we've talked about moving to Tenn. living much cheaper than NY (most places are) and it is just so beautiful and clean.

Good luck in your adventure and move.

I use Alvin C. York for all kinds of stuff. Before I was in the local clinic it was my primary care site. I have always been satisfied with their service. The lady at the front desk is useless, so is the guy in the leather vest (they are the information people). Its almost like a rite of passage though, since once you get thru them everyone else is very nice. Not too crowded, even the ER. So, all in all I like it, and Nashville VAMC is even better. All, in all we are really lucky here in Tennessee. Their meds by mail actually works really well too. Lets see, its clean, the people are clean, but the mental health is touch and go.... personally I'd go the clinic route for that if you can, as you never see the same person twice at the PACS clinic, but thats really the only BAD thing I have to say, except for the useless, mean lady at the front desk.

I have most of the extensions etc., for all the various units if you need them.

I live just up the road in Kentucky. Tennesee is a wonderful place. The workers pay no state taxes. If you like to fish there are several goood lakes within 1 hour of Murfesboro.

I have even heard that the VAMC in Nashville VAMC is a training hospital for Vanderbelt University hospital which is one of the best in the nation.

Just be aware that when you move from one VARO to another VARO you may be called in for a new C&P exam to check out your condition.

I do not know anything about the Nashville VAMC, but I am with JBasser in this sure is a beautiful part of the country to live in. I am about 85 miles from Nashville myself and enjoy going there on short trips.

I used to live there from 80 to 82. My husband went to school at MTSU and worked at the VA there in Murfreesboro. When we were there it was strictly a psychiactric facility. I don't know about now.

The area is beutiful and like was mentioned before the Nashville VA is the best. My dad went there for years and he was always treated well. Just outside of Murfreesboro is the Stones River Civil War battlefield. It is a great place for history buffs.

I really loved it there and hated to leave.

There are several small communities close by if you like the country.

I think you will like it there.

Larry,

I lived in Knoxville, Tennessee, while my husband attended and taught at the University of Tennessee.

He was rearerd in Chattanooga, Tenn and me in Virginia.

We have always loved the beautiful Appalachian Mountains.

I believe that you love the area also.

I don't know anything about the VAMC in the areas, but have always loved the people.

    Post a clear title like
