Question

I called the VA today. I had my C&P exam 3 months ago. When i called the 1-800 # the lady told me my case was closed 5-15-07 I did not recive a letter explaining anything. So does this mean i was denied. :(

I am currently 40% spondlyosis and L3 L4 fracture and 10% large scar on left leg from combat wound

Kryptos,

It has been our experience that the 800# is not the best source for information. One time you call and they say one thing, then call back in a day or so and your will most likely get another version. As far as I am concerned the 800# is very unreliable. I wouldn't ask the 800# people for directions unless I had a GPS to verify what they said.

Now on the other hand, you can call the 800# and ask them to get a message to the person handling/rating your claim. And see if he or she would call you. That actually might work. Or you can ask the 800# person to look at the covers screen to find out what is actually going on with your case. Or you can submit an IRIS request. The link address is

https://iris.va.gov/scripts/iris.cfg/php.ex...nduser/home.php

follow the directions. The last two times we used the IRIS (Inquiry Routing and Information System) we recieved a response within hours. It was much more acurate than the 800# and you can print the reply from the computer to your printer for a record of the inquiry.

PS- when we recieved a call from the rater to say our claim was processed. It still took almost three weeks to recieve the letter of notification with the decision and rating. If it has been processede you may have a couple weeks wait. I'd try the IRIS or get a message to the rater. hope this helps. jan

kryptos,

I'm willing to bet if you give the VA a couple of more weeks, you'll probably receive a rating decision on your claim(s). This sounds very similar to another post in the recent past. If you had a C&P exam three months ago, the so-called "closed out" statement from the 1-800 jockey proabably means they made a decision on your claim(s).

In my dealing with the VA most of the time when dealing with RO and they say the case is closed: I was awarded some type of award. But all that said you must wait to officially him from them.

    Post a clear title like
