Question

My congressman was on the news today, yesterday I guess since it is now 4 in the morning, and he was talking about letting vets in my area use the local medical facilities instead of doing all of that traveling.

This guy is one of the jerks that refuses to acknowledge that I even exist.

He is also one of the self serving dudes that used to say; "Our veterans get the best health care".

He talked all around the subject of veteran's health care without saying a damn thing that could possibly amount to a hill of beans.

Since the wife was interested in what he was saying, really NOT SAYING, I hobbled outa the room to find my third beer of this year.

This is exactly the same tactic the right uses to keep us in iraq. If you question the mission you are against the troops; if you question their health care, you are against the troops; if you question their actions (and try to get rid of the bad ones), you are against the troops.

So, by this logic the troops will NEVER get better because we cannot question ANYTHING regarding the military. Yet, time and time agaain and on both sides of the isle, our elected officials tell us that the troops have the best health care in the world despite the fact that most of the doctors in the military and VA are straight out of college and not even licensed to practice.

Of course, some sort of universal health care would fix this, but that would make us communists I guess.......

As far as VA health care is concerned, I believe it would be great if the doctors were allowed to be doctors and the system accountants were kept out of the examinations, diagnosis process and treatment protocols.

The penny counters should keep records and file reports on how much is needed to provide for veteran's health care, not take a certain amount of cash and dole it out based upon how much they can get away with while veterans suffer because they are going without timely, adequate and required medical care.

The needs of the veterans, according to medical science, do not come first or even second.

The care we are 'allowed' to have is governed by non-medical considerations which is against the mandate of the Department of Veterans Affairs as described by congress.

Some veterans do get excellent medical care and enjoy timely treatment by the benefits and compensation folks within the VA.

Those lucky few are the tokens that the VA holds up to the press when asked about complaints.

I used to know one of those guys, (WW11, Korea and 30 years served) but he died several years ago.

On the other hand, I personally know of 3 combat veterans that the VA says never served in the military, even though they all easily prove it.

Make that 2, I forgot that one of them (2 tours in Nam) finally got service connected with a 2006 effective date and he is on cloud nine, and oxygen, and many prescriptions.

Currently, until we elect some reps with morals, all we can do is jump through the hoops and hope.

Face it troops, the situation ain't gonna change with the present crop of tongue wagers in Washington.

The people on welfare get better treatment than the folks who keep this country safe.

But then, they have rights protected by the constitution and the courts, we got congress.

Again – Make it easy for others to help. If your question is buried in a monster paragraph, there are fewer who will investigate to dig it out.

    exclamation-mark-orange-gold.jpg How To Post

    Post a clear title like

Need help preparing PTSD claim or “VA med center won’t schedule my surgery” instead of  ‘I have a question."

This gives members a starting point to ask clarifying questions like “Can you post the Reasons for Denial of your claim?
