I Got A Call From A Va Clerk Today...

Question

I got a voice mail from the VA today. The message said that they were calling to update my insurance & demographic data.

I find this very strange. I have never had a call like this before. This call comes at a critical juncture in my case....I just got the SOC for my NOD and I believe they are giving me a bone to apease me, but that is another story.

Another thing that I don't understand is that I got a letter form the VA saying I was eligable for VA med care as a Priority 2. I don't even remember applying, unless filing for a C & P clain counts.

I just think the timing is strange....what do they really mean by demograpics? They know where I live and my color, nationality, color, etc....?

Another thing I don't understand is that I am 30% and the VA covers service connected issues, and they are now making me a 50% disability. I know that when you are rated at 50% or above the VA must legally cover ALL service and non  service issues, so why do they need to know if I have cililian med insurance???

Thank you all for helping me!!

Joe

The VA calls me every once in a while to verify information, they tell me where I live and already know my phone number, I just agree that the info is correct and don't give them any info at all. Yes, 50% or greater the VA treats you for any medical condition but the law requires them to bill your private insurance company. You have no deductible and usually never hear if your insurance paid or not. Doubt it's the RO calling, it's just your local VA where you receive treatment.

John6012,

Thanks for sharing your experience. I just don't trust them and the timing is so suspect with me getting the SOC. I don't know if it has anyting to do with the fact that I live in a city where the VARO is next to a VA hospital. Yes I am paronoid...but I have survided so far...
