Vets Are Asking For Help

Rate this question

Question

I had a vet just call that served in Nam in 1965. He has glaucoma for many many years and his doctor thinks it was caused by AO. Does anyone know if Glaucoma is now on the list and was AO sprayed in 1965?

I have vets asking for help and I tell them I will help if I feel they have a case. I feel I owe it to them for what you all did for me.

Go to ArmrdAngel website scroll down to Vietnam!Dioxin Kills Pg2. It talks about glaucoma as secondary to diabetes.

Yes- I talked to Armd Angel earlier this week-that is an excellent site-

and the Quilt of Tears was started by a former member here- Jennie Lefeve (I think I spelled that wrong)

http:www.agentorangequiltoftears.com

Also Cyber Sarge- an excellent AO site-

he gives the whole list of presumptives and also the entire STS list (soft tissue sarcomas)

http://cybersarges.ripod.com/AO.html

We had a good discussion on the air last night on Agent Orange at Stardust Radio and we will be having future shows on this issue-

He could call in with questions to the next AO show we do-

The Order of the Silver Rose, Blue Water Navy,

2nd Battalion 94th Artillery, and even the VA itself are all excellent sources for AO information.

20 Million gallons of AO were sprayed in Nam from 1962 to 1971.

If he has diabetes as cause of the glaucoma- he should file claim ASAP for DMII due to AO with glaucoma as secondary.

VA knows the strong medical association of glaucoma from diabetes-- it is in the VA diabetes training letter that I posted here.

Thank you so very much Berta. Yes, after looking at these sites it looks like just glaucoma alone without being secondary to diabetes won`t fly. I`ll ask if he has diabetes today.

By the way when I was diagnosed with cancer a fellow from the Silver Rose called me about AO. Come to find out he only lived a few miles from me and he continually checked on me for a few months. His name was Gary. I won`t give his last name, but you probably know him.

I bet you mean Gary Chenett-I have been OSR members for many years and emailed GAry just the other day-

I am a little concerned because he hasn't emailed back.

He needed a director in NY for OSR at some point but I couldnt do it then- maybe after I finish school I could do more for them-

This is a great organization and what they sent me was wonderful-

The Silver Rose on a beautiful ribbon and a lovely Certificate honoring Rod.

Jennie Lefeve-(deceased former hadit member) (Agent Orange Quilt of Tears) told me to wear it to the VA functions. I felt a little odd because I am the widow and not the vet but she said wear it and just tell anyone who asks that Rod was the AO vet.

Well-on Memorial day I wore it to the VA and many vets asked what it was but some KNEW what it was all about- 2 were members of OSR also and some had seen the Quilt of Tears.

It is really a small world when vets get together-I knew all the callers last night on the AO show I hosted. The internet sure does unite us.

(I say' us' but you all know I am a civilian and what I mean is - we are all in this VA crapola together)

Even if he doesn't have diabetes -there could be some link in his SMRs? possibly???

he most likely might have HBP or atherosclerosis to cause the cataracts?

There could be some other inservice nexus and this would be another way to help him if he does not have the cataracts from diabetes.

Did he ever get a traumatic head injury in Vietnam or stateside while in service?

I have neighbor whose husband had abused her (non vets) and she is developing a cataract that she said the doc said was from heavy blows to the head from the abuse. I dont know medically if that is really a possible cataract cause.

Jennie was one of the best people I have met in my life. I wonder how many Vets she helped but it must be thousands. She would greet most Vets with a big hug and a smile that would light you up.
