tinnitus Any Vertigo Appeal Winners?

Greetings:

Has anyone successfully appealed Vertigo secondary to S/C Tinnitus and Hearing Loss.

Let me see if I can get a better understanding .

You have service connection for ringing in the ears and hearing loss.

Is this hearing loss and ringing in both ears or in one ear only?

I may be one on this board who may be able to help you connect this.

I have severe inner ear problems with severe vertigo. I have perfect hearing and no ringing in the ears.

What other symtoms do you have besides the vertigo? Do You have problems with walking a straight line?

What happens if you close your eyes and you are standing still?

Can you pass the " Drunk" Test"?

Does your doctor have you on medication for the vertigo?

What does your doctor attribute the vertigo too?

Anything else that you can add, may help me with your claim.

Thank you very much for taking the time to respond. I greatly appreciate it.

First, I have bilateral hearing loss rated 0% {issued hearing aids}, with bilateral tinnitus

rated 10%.

My VA primary doctor has diagnosed me with intermittent benign paroxysmal

positioning vertigo and has prescribed 'Meclizine' for the dizziness.

I can walk a straight line, but at times I have some difficulty staying on course;

I tend to sway alittle when closing my eyes and standing still.

Not certain what the 'Drunk Test' is, I probably could have some trouble with

it however.

My VA primary doctor cannot state for certain that there is a linkage with my

tinnitus/hearing loss with vertigo. He says there could be any possible reasons for the

vertigo, without going into detail. So he has not concluded that there could be

a linkage for the C&P doctor to read.

I recently had a C&P; everything appeared to go well, with the head turning and my

eyes blinking, etc.

My claim was denied stating there was no service connection. I don't know how to

medically connect vertigo, is possible to do so?

I plan to visit a private ENT doctor shortly.

The drunk test is walking a straight line, one foot in front of the other without missing the beat.

I am sure that you can't do it, so no need to try it.

I am going to advise you when you go to your private ENT dig information out of him. I would expect him to tell you a bit more than your VA doctor.

Let me ask you, why do you have the hearing loss? It is service connected. What happened? Any injuries?

Anything hit you in head? Head injury?

Any damage close to your ears?

How many years have passed since your service connection for the hearing loss and the now present Vertigo?

I hate to ask you so many questions, but I am trying to help you find that link.

Josephine, hello:

I think that by seeing an outside doctor I can get a real answer as to whether there is a connection between my vertigo and hearing loss/tinnitus, or am I just waisting my time, because there is no linkage...

My tinnitus was a result of loud firings of guns, weapons, etc. I separated in 1970 and within 6 months filed and received 0% service connected status-non-compensationable for both my hearing loss and tinnitus. I placed a claim for tinnitus/hearing loss in 2005 and was awarded 10% for tinnitus (missing the bilateral rating of 20% for both ears that was earlier issued). There was no change in my hearing, still rated service connected at 0%.

Up until this time, I did not use the VA system. The vertigo began in 2004 with visits to the VA and is current up to present.

In Vietnam, I did not sustain any injuries to my head, ears, etc.

I do think that your best bet is with the ENT doctor that you will be seeing, as the ear is such an intricate mechanism.

I always thought that my ears were for hearing only, until I hit the floor with life spinning 100 Miles a minute.

It was a nightmare. This has stayed with me since 1994. When I go to bed at night, I try my best to pretend that I am on a flying carpet and that I am in no harm.

At times, I know that I have fallen through to the basement.

I haven't been able to walk a straight line since.

Your Ear Doctor can put the pieces of the puzzle together for you.

Yes, Larry has mentioned the picture of the lovely antique quilt. I sold this one on ebay a couple of weeks ago. Lovely hand pieced and hand quilted from the early 20's. I have been dealing in antiques for at least 30 years. My biggest passion is my antique bisque head dolls. To be honest with you though I love my dough bowls, baskets, quilts, rugs and all of those lovely things.

Thanks for noticing my logo now. I had taken the picture of the quilt and needed a picture for this site and I thought, " Why Not" I tried a picture of myself as Berta did and it was a Hoot!!
