Filed For Ssdi And Have A Question?

Question

Hi All,

I filed for SSDI in December with my attorney and I received a call from the Social Security office. The guy verified my income and said that was all he needed and that he would be sending it for Medical Review.

Does anyone know what exactly that means "Sent my file for Medical Review"?

Any feedback would be great.

CHERIe33,

It means it went to the state office. Explaination: SSA does all the paperwork, checks if u have proper earnings, gathers med reports and other reports as needed, and make sure you meet other requirements and all evidence needed is collected. They then send to the state DDS ( Disibilites Determination Services). They are the ones who determine if you meet the medical portion for disibilty. This is the same for each state, that's why some states are easier than others but SSA does not actually determine until it goes to ALJ.

They will probably schedule you for the appropriate medical exam sort of like the VA C&P. Your claim is moving along nicely
