Question

I have been having periods of shortness of breath. My thought was allergies. My primary care doctor suspects that it is becuase of reflux. I am SC for GERD/IBS. What do I need to do if my breathing problem is related to reflux? Is that a secondary condition?

For what it's worth, my non-service brother, 44, has been recently diagnosed with diabetes and very high cholesterol. He's always been a lot thinner than me but these symptoms really started up after a pretty bad traffic accident and associated lifestyle changes. His LDL, bad cholesterol, level has been seemingly unmanageable. Last week he went into the hospital after three days of almost dialing 911 for chest pains. He had been on Lisinopril for cholesterol (?) or maybe just high blood pressure. He said after four days off of Lisinopril he feels like a spring chicken compared to before. It sounds like he had one of those silent heart attacks mentioned and some blockage could have blown through or else the Lisinopril was doing bad things to him. From what I can round up on the internet Vitamin C and almonds and other food choices can help bring the high LDL down. I told him about it and am keeping an eye on him with this. Just trying to round out the discussion on this in case anyone has any similar issues.

First, let me apologize for not updating. I had to get a new internet provider. There were days where I could not jog on. Update. My private doctor says I have asthma. He won't say right now if it is GERD-related or not. Stll waiting on the VA to set up an appointment.

VA docs told me yesterday I have spinal arthritis. I have two documented service connected back injuries while on active duty.

Another doctor in Salem made reference to a bullous skin condition. He said I should see a skin specialist. They're trying to a fee basis arrangement with an area doctor.

My major depression claim was decided Friday and now it at the next level (???).

As much as you want this stuff over, there are times you've got to walk away from it. I go to the mail box day after day looking for the brown envelope. It will get here when it gets here.
