Dental Crowns

Question

I am rated @ 100% and recently had two dental crowns put on by a private dentist. Not thinking that, nor actually knowing that I had full dental @ 100% from the VA. The question is, can I submit a bill to the VA and be reimbursed for the $2000 spent by me at the private dentist?

If you were already 100% I doubt they will pay you unless you are in the Fee Base area. They will say they could have done it cheaper and probably would have given you big fillings instead of a crown.

Steve, you are eligible. I dont think you can get reimbursed for you did not give the VA first Crack at it.

The eligibility was changed in March 08. Here it is.

I'd have to say No.

Why?

If nothing else.

1. Prior approval is almost mandatory to get the VA to pay anything for almost any outside medical procedure.

2. The VA would not pay if you have any insurance that might pay a portion.
