New York State has lots of info on NY doctors-

If a VA doctor has been found part of any FTCA Tort payment they must be reported to the National Practitioners Data Bank by the VA.

Then their name will be found in the disciplined doctors data bank list.At least here in NY_ that is the way it goes- the HHS publishes the list on line.

Last month I found out how this is not only a mandatory reporting requirement for the VA, but then I found that not a single doctor who malpracticed on my husband over a 6 year period at VA was listed.

I have written to the OGC about this- as well as the H VAC.

In some way I have to find out how many other FTCA settlements were paid that did not result in the VA making mandatory reports to the NPDB.

If this mandatory reporting is not done by the VA-it means these negligent doctors just continue to potentially malpractice on veterans.

It is inexcusable and I await what the VA is going to say in response to a FOIA/Privacy Act letter I recently sent them.

I stared questioned their reporting practice many years ago and received replies to FOIAs that said the info I requested was not releasable under FOIA/Privacy Act.

It sure is-and my recent letter included the regs as to public records.
