    Have Questions? Get Answers.

Tips on posting on the forums.

    1. Post a clear title like ‘Need help preparing PTSD claim’ or “VA med center won’t schedule my surgery instead of ‘I have a question.

    2. Knowledgeable people who don’t have time to read all posts may skip yours if your need isn’t clear in the title.
I don’t read all posts every login and will gravitate towards those I have more info on.

    3. Use paragraphs instead of one massive, rambling introduction or story.

Again – You want to make it easy for others to help. If your question is buried in a monster paragraph, there are fewer who will investigate to dig it out.

    Leading too:

exclamation-point.pngPost straightforward questions and then post background information.

    Examples:

    • Question A. I was previously denied for apnea – Should I refile a claim?
      • Adding Background information in your post will help members understand what information you are looking for so they can assist you in finding it.
Rephrase the question: I was diagnosed with apnea in service and received a CPAP machine, but the claim was denied in 2008. Should I refile?

    • Question B. I may have PTSD- how can I be sure?
      • See how the details below give us a better understanding of what you’re claiming.
Rephrase the question: I was involved in a traumatic incident on base in 1974 and have had nightmares ever since, but I did not go to mental health while enlisted. How can I get help?

This gives members a starting point to ask clarifying questions like “Can you post the Reasons for Denial of your claim?”

1-800 Number -- Back To Regional?

Ron II

Question

Has the VA gone back to a system where calls to the 1-800 number are normally answered by the applicable regional office?

I've noticed that I've been assisted during my last seven calls  by my servicing VARO, rather than the centralized system.

Ron,

Good for you that you are, I am still getting South Carolina and they

know absolutely nothing to tell me about my claim.

They say their computers don't tell them anything.

They try, but their hands are tied!

I would love once to get ahold of my R. O and tell them what I

think of them. My R. O is just a lazy bunch collecting a pay check.

Ron,

This isn't fair, for I bet you, I have written more letters

than you have and I am getting no where.

Maybe, I just need to act a little dumber in my letters

and quit quoting to them their rules and regulations.

Have a good one!

I was told that they try to route the call to the closest call center geographically to the caller. If the lines are tied up at that one, then it moves to whoever is available. Also, the call centers that we get now aren't actually in the RO, but they are usually in the same city...again, this is what I was told by the 800# a few months ago. I usually get the Nashville, TN call center, which is the same city as my RO, but they said they were actually several blocks from the RO.

Interestingly,

when I call the 800 # from home, I always get the Atlanta RO. Then, I will call from my cell, which has a Virginia area code, and get the Roanoke office.

I would normally call the Roanoke office first just to see what they can tell me, then I'll call from home and see if the info is the same. :P

Usually, the Atlanta RO will provide me more detailed info, while I get some basic info from Roanoke.

MRRRR5,

I shall be trying this one in the morning. My cell phone is a Virginia

area code and I am trying to reach Roanoke to see what they

did with my TDIU Form.

When I call I always get the South Carolina VA.

I will let everyone know if it works.

Thanks,

Betty

I don't doubt you, but the call center people I have talked to recently know the folks in the VARO by name. Additionally, one of the call center people told me her supervisor is the guy I saw just yesterday at the Denver VARO.

Who knows...it might vary by region or the Zodiac.

;) :P

You have to understand the VA calendar to understand how they vary it. One week it it set up by the Chinese zodiac, and the next week it is by the moon phase, unless Jimmy Buffet is back in Margaritaville, then all bet's are off and it's party time at the VARO :P

Wish I could get back into my regional office. It has been 722 days since my DRO hearing and still no response. Calls to the call center only get "its still pending sir". Guess it is time for one of Ron's letters but I assure you it will not be one we want posted on Hadit!!!!

If I have to take the 9 hour round trip drive there it ain't gonna be a pretty site so I hope you will be willing to come and bond me out of jail Ron ole buddy hahahahahahah!

Ricky,

I can only say that all the letters and numerous IRIS messages at least brought down a manager (rather than one of the people at the service desk) to talk to me when I visited the VARO.

I would be happy to bond you out my friend. I only request you pay the transportation costs from

Colorado to Alabama... :P

Take care,

Ron

Consider the cost paid. The problem that I will have is they will probably only release me to a sane person. Although my wife will be with me see will be worse than I after have to put up with me during the ride! hahhahahahahaha

The call center of which I was speaking was a centralized system that "appeared" to have been established nationally sometime earlier this year. There was significant discussion about that development on Hadit. Maybe there never was a national call center?

Anyway, I am glad whenever I get to speak to someone who is in the same building as my file.

Cheers!

Ron,

That old "CALL CENTER" is still around. I got them again this morning.

I tried using my cell phone as it is a Virginia number and I did not

receive Roanoke Virginia, it was back to South Carolina again.

They don't really know squat about my claim.

I did locate the Director of the Roanoke Regional Office telephone

number and gave his secretary a call to see where my TDIU Form is

Someone is susposed to call me. I do not expect them too.

I am now ready to start putting off those left over " Firecrackers"

under someone's A!!!!!!!!!!!

Always,

Betty
