Tips on posting on the forums.

    1. Post a clear title like ‘Need help preparing PTSD claim’ or “VA med center won’t schedule my surgery instead of ‘I have a question.

    2. Knowledgeable people who don’t have time to read all posts may skip yours if your need isn’t clear in the title.
I don’t read all posts every login and will gravitate towards those I have more info on.

    3. Use paragraphs instead of one massive, rambling introduction or story.

Again – You want to make it easy for others to help. If your question is buried in a monster paragraph, there are fewer who will investigate to dig it out.

    Leading too:

exclamation-point.pngPost straightforward questions and then post background information.

    Examples:

    • Question A. I was previously denied for apnea – Should I refile a claim?
      • Adding Background information in your post will help members understand what information you are looking for so they can assist you in finding it.
Rephrase the question: I was diagnosed with apnea in service and received a CPAP machine, but the claim was denied in 2008. Should I refile?

    • Question B. I may have PTSD- how can I be sure?
      • See how the details below give us a better understanding of what you’re claiming.
Rephrase the question: I was involved in a traumatic incident on base in 1974 and have had nightmares ever since, but I did not go to mental health while enlisted. How can I get help?

This gives members a starting point to ask clarifying questions like “Can you post the Reasons for Denial of your claim?”

Hi,Everyone

Macool, I'm quite sure I'll be corrected if this is wrong but IMO's will not get U.... SC.

From what I understand it takes a VA Doc for that.

An IMO is very helpful but I believe the "Powers that be" want to hear from the VA Docs.

Any way it should get U a C & P

Good Luck

Are you trying for original SC or an increase. If it is for an increase the IMO's are just what you want. If you can't work because of he shoulders then IU is where you want to aim. No way to tell exactly what the VA will rate you at. The thing is you want to build a claim around these shoulders to include chronic pain disorder, depression etc. You want to show the VA that these conditions are making a big dent in your ability to function. I have shoulder problems and I know how bad this hurts. If you take pain meds for the conditions you want an opinion as to how the pain meds affect your ability to concentrate, drive, think logically etc.

Yes I am Connected already at 10% each -side -Shoulder and I am going for an increase.

If I were only 10% each side I would still be doing my Union Costruction work. VA will

never pay me what I Made there.

Rick-this should be a bilateral rating-

I looked at the BVA web site yesterday and didnt find anything similiar but am trying today again-

I am searching under bilateral shoulders-

maybe I need to search a different way-

I would assume the SC would jump to 30 % for sure- but the bilateral factor is what I cant find example of-

Rick,

Here is the link to my new BVA grant, as out claims have so much in common.

As you will see, it was the Independent Medical Opinion that over-wrote the opinion of the two VA Psychiatrist.

Take note of this one:

2. Evidence associated with the claims file since the RO's

June 1992 decision is so significant that it must be

considered in order to fairly decide the merits of the claim

for service connection for an acquired psychiatric disorder,

to include anxiety and depression.

Hi, Berta!

I was rated 30% and 40% by all Doctors

30%----Would that be each side or Both together?

I was kind of hoping for - 50% combined.

Then I can Tackle my hearing claims for another 10%

I know the VA math is really weird I was hoping some one had a clue on what I should expect!

Thanks again --------- Macool

That is a very involved reading, Betty , Very interesting, I am so glad you are service connected now

it will give some kind of little ending to your struggle.

I know it was a good thing even when "the VA low balled me" just for them to grant me the truth gave me some peace of mind. I can only guess what your fight has been like.

You are a Trooper you stayed in the battle and got some justice.

Rick,

I knew you also had lost medical records never seen before by the VA.

My case shows how a Budddy Letter can be important and the influence

of an Independent Medical Opinion against the VA

doctors.

The Best to You!
