    Have Questions? Get Answers.

Tips on posting on the forums.

    1. Post a clear title like ‘Need help preparing PTSD claim’ or “VA med center won’t schedule my surgery instead of ‘I have a question.

    2. Knowledgeable people who don’t have time to read all posts may skip yours if your need isn’t clear in the title.
I don’t read all posts every login and will gravitate towards those I have more info on.

    3. Use paragraphs instead of one massive, rambling introduction or story.

Again – You want to make it easy for others to help. If your question is buried in a monster paragraph, there are fewer who will investigate to dig it out.

    Leading too:

exclamation-point.pngPost straightforward questions and then post background information.

    Examples:

    • Question A. I was previously denied for apnea – Should I refile a claim?
      • Adding Background information in your post will help members understand what information you are looking for so they can assist you in finding it.
Rephrase the question: I was diagnosed with apnea in service and received a CPAP machine, but the claim was denied in 2008. Should I refile?

    • Question B. I may have PTSD- how can I be sure?
      • See how the details below give us a better understanding of what you’re claiming.
Rephrase the question: I was involved in a traumatic incident on base in 1974 and have had nightmares ever since, but I did not go to mental health while enlisted. How can I get help?

This gives members a starting point to ask clarifying questions like “Can you post the Reasons for Denial of your claim?”

    employment 2.jpeg

You’ve just been rated 100% disabled by the Veterans Affairs. After the excitement of finally having the rating you deserve wears off, you start asking questions. One of the first questions that you might ask is this: It’s a legitimate question – rare is the Veteran that finds themselves sitting on the couch eating bon-bons … Continue reading

Your Social Security An Enlightment

Teac

Question

Your Social Security Just in case some of you young whippersnappers (& some older ones) didn't know this. Be sure and show it to your kids. They need a little history lesson on what's what. And it doesn't matter whether you are Democrat of Republican. Facts are facts!!!

Our Social Security

Franklin Roosevelt, a Democrat, introduced the Social

Security (FICA) Program. He promised:

1.) That participation in the Program would be

completely voluntary.

2.) That the participants would only have to pay

1% of the first $1,400 of their annual

incomes into the Program,

3.) That the money the participants elected to put

into the Program would be deductible from

their income for tax purposes each year,

4.) That the money the participants put into the

Independent 'Trust Fund' rather than into the

General Operating Fund, and therefore, would

only be used to fund the Social Security

Retirement Program, and no other

government program, and,

5.) That the annuity payments to the retirees

would never be taxed as income.

Since many of us have paid into FICA for years and are

now receiving a Social Security check every month --

and then finding that we are getting taxed on 85% of

the money we paid to the federal government to 'put

away', you may be interested in the following:

-------------------------------------------------------------

Q: Which political party took Social Security from the

Independent 'Trust Fund' and put it in to the

General Fund so that Congress could spend it?

A: It was Lyndon Johnson and the Democratically-

controlled House and Senate.

--------------------------------------------------------------------

Q: Which political party eliminated the income tax

deduction for Social Security (FICA) withholding?

A: The Democratic Party.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------

Q: Which political party started taxing Social

Security annuities?

A: The Democratic Party, with Al Gore casting the

'tie-breaking' deciding vote as President of the

Senate, while he was Vice President of the U.S.

-------------------------------------------------------------------

Q: Which political party decided to start giving

annuity payments to immigrants?

AND MY FAVORITE:

A: That's right! Jimmy Carter and the Democratic Party.

Immigrants moved into this country, and at age 65,

they began to receive Social Security payments! The

Democratic Party gave these payments to them

even though they never paid a dime into it!

----------------------------------------------------------------------

Then, after violating the original contract (FICA),the Democrats turn around and tell you that theRepublicans want to take your Social Security away!

And the worst part about it is, uninformed citizens believe it!

If enough people receive this, maybe a seed of

awareness will be planted and maybe changes will

evolve. Maybe not, some Democrats are awfully

sure of what isn't so.

But it's worth a try. How many people can

YOU send this to?

Actions speak louder than bumper stickers. AND CONGRESS GIVES THEMSELVES 100% RETIREMENTFOR ONLY SERVING ONE TERM!!!'A government big enough to give you everything you want,is strong enough to take everything you have.'

-Thomas Jefferson

I am grateful that the Democratic Party had the foresight to make a program that helps so many Americans.

Social Security treated me fair from the gotgo about 4 months to be approved as opposed to VA over 5 years.

Social Security has never been late with a check and VA has.

ALthough the VA pays me more money I have more faith in Social Security.

Social Security via Medicare HMO gives me timely Doctor appointments and Medical Care. The VA does not.

1% of 1400 Salary is 14 dollars a year. I am glad that Social Security has been raised its still a bargain for what is returned.

Republicans fought against SSA. They fought against medicare and medicade. Republicans have fought against mandatory funding for the VA. The republicans have fought against every program to help the poor and disadvantaged for the last 60 years. If you are a multimillionaire by all means vote republican. If you live off your capital gains it really helps to get a lower tax rate than a school teacher.

And the worst part about it is, uninformed citizens believe it?

Why not, they believed Bush & his cronies.

You can do all the finger pointing you want, while congress takes the next several months off work planning their next raises, for work they refuse to perform. What a waste of money paying someone to lie to you.

So whats YOUR plan to change it?

If Republicans get their way, we would all be working in factories like the Chinese without "ANY" social programs. I know this is very good for big business, but would start a revolution in this country where as you and the rest of big business would loose it all.

Don't want to share the abundance of wealth made from this countries labor? Than wait, for it will come to your door step.

Mutimillion dollar homes are being burned out just for raising property taxes.

After having the republicans control congress & the white house during a time of war, theres little left to fight it with or programs like SS.

Collect what haliburton has stolen and the DOD has pissed away and you might get a good start on having enough to fight the next war, that has nothing to do with this nations security.

I'm so sick of hearing, it's the Dems. No it's the republicans.

It's both of you lazy, good for nothing outfits out to line your pockets that is jeopardizing our nations security and social programs.

I agree. They spend more time and money trying to make each other look bad than they do accomplishing a common goal. I would think that people at thet level could actually make a decision on one thing, instead of having to add 100 items on top of it to be passed.

I do not make a lot of money, and do not pay a lot of taxes, but if Idid I would be irate at the way these servants of the people throw it around with no regard.

I once watched a congressional hearing on T.V. Once, not twice, or ever again. What a bunch of blowhards. Instead of actually gathering information by asking questions, they sit around and give their opinion. Now advice has helped some people, but opinions are like, well, you know. Actions speaks louder than words and man ,I am glad I do not rely on politicians actions to make me a sandwich or I would be starving.

And for who brought about what, who cares! Somebody in either party needs to fix a problem with a solution, and if a problem is fixed, everyone should recognize the fix, not the party. If it is a constitutional disagreement, let the Supreme Court rule, and then we follow the law, the American way right!

And by the way, I have not heard any Republicans calling Marines murderers, or claiming the war that is being won on the ground by the troops is lost every week.
