Question

I received a call today from St Louis. I did as Berta suggested I wrote and ask that they call me so I could tell them specifically what I needed and they sure enough called.. I wanted to know if these particular records that I am seeking(Mental Health Record from Active Duty)are kept in the same area such as the same building with the SMR's or some where's else? He said it would be about 4 or 5 days....Thanks

Shane,

I am hoping that in Rich's case as in mine, the VA failed to ask for

his mental/ psychiatric records, as the technician told me they are

confidential and stored in a separate place from the regular SMR's.

The R. O sent many years ago for my SMR's, but failed to ask for

any psychiatric records.

After 40 years, I was the first one to put my hands on them and not

the R. O and thus re-opened all of my claims.

The Best to you,

Betty

I receive no copies of my Mental Health records with my c-file, I mean none and the VA stated in my denial I had no history of treatment while in service I was treated at home and in the gulf..

Betty, I think you know the joy it will bring to me if they send them suckers to me OH God my mind races thinking about having them in my hand and I thank you so much for this ....

Rich,

I was denied over and over by the VA as I was told the same thing,

never treated in service for the conditon.

The Technician located mine for me after 40 years and when he called

me that he had them, I was also shocked.

The Counselors at the VA kept telling me every time I ask for them

that they did not exist.

Sure can't wait to hear from that technician.

Always,

Betty

Before I could receive any mental health records I had give the dates of exam, give the names of the examining and treating doctors and then wait forever.

Oh God, I don't think I could remember that, I can barely remember 1 week to the next...

I guess I lucked out that day, for I only had to give Name , SS Number, Service Number, Entry and Discharge date and Branch of service. That was enough for me.

Good Luck,

Betty
