Detroit Varo Caught With C_files In Shred Bin

Question

Greetings all:

If your from Michigan you might want to read this story from over on VA watchdog

http://www.vawatchdog.org/08/nf08/nfoct08/nf101308-1.htm

If your from the great state of Michigan not only do you get one of the largest backlogs by number and percentage you get to wonder if your stuff was sent to the shredder.

I'm glad that I saw my c-file at a C&P last week, Not sure everything is in it but at least the whole thing isn't in a shred bin.

Really makes you wonder how much of this is incompetence and how much is planned and deliberate.

Best regards,

Tyler

This is horrible. I feel this is just the tip of the iceburg and this is a direct result of poor management.

Even if there cannot be any criminal charges agains these folks there can still be countermeasures implemented. All Vets within hte Detroit service area should contact their representative and have the ro show them proof that their claims are there and not missing.

As Larry (VA Watchdog)said-no one knows the entent of this and even if veteran's files were actually shredded-because in that case they were gone anyhow-by the time of the VA OIG investigation-

a good reason to ALWAYS follow up in your claim via Iris- and get the response by email or snail mail haRD COPY PROOF-

In 2005 a OGC report revealed VA employees told the IG many times- they didnt have the time to fully read and assess claims properly-

the quota system made them mass produce denial after denial to save time-

one of the comments at Watchdog said this info should be sent to every newspaper-

I am sending it to the WAshington Post-

I think we should all contact our local newspapers and see if they will run this information-

the worst is yet to come-

in my opinion- we only know of 2 VAROs and I sure think the IG has more on their list than that.

I am going to contact the IG and try to get Buffalo on that list-

I am disgusted-

but not surprised-every Senator and COngressman should be in an uproar about this-

and the hearings will hopefully get to the bottom of it all-

What good is the work of veterans and advocates like all of you here- helping vets to get thru the VA claims maze-when the VA itself does not care.

I am almost finished with the statement the BVA said I could make to the VA on behalf of my claim-

I again listed and enclosed the evidence-I had also gotten much more since the last time the DRO handled my claim-

and I stated emphatically that one page that part of my statement (maybe all of it) was going to the House Vets Committee- to show them step by step how the VA can continuously ignore evidence to deny a claim.

In my case they even had help from my POA.

We all have to be sure that the VA not only acknowledges our evidence but that they read it and mention it in the SOC.

Yesterday I briefly expanded in my response to the AMC- on a "missing" Peer Review FTCA report a VA doctor (and Medical Center Director) in 1995-prepared mere months after I filed FTCA-which supported the malpractice-

the VA instread said it was "missing" and strung that claim out for years.

I found the "missing" report in my C file-and all the other missing stuff- proof positive that- much of our stuff isnt 'destroyed' but instead 'removed'from the C file until they deny the claim. Then they put it back in.

I just gave Washingtopn Post a story- and it is on another matter important to vets-the results of months of investigation I did-

I am sending them this one today-the Watchdog link-

Watchdog wants this newest VA fiasco out all over the nation-

You all deserve MUCH better treatment than this from the very entity that your service created.

THEY owe YOU.

And the entire US of A should read in the news of how piss poor you all get treated by VA in their claims process.

Berta....This is all very interesting but I think everyone suspected something of this sort for a long time.

As far as " I can't say anything" that person should be fired on the spot or locked up till they decide to say something.

As far as where these orders ( If U will) come from on this type of behavior I feel sure it didn't start at the bottom & work it's way up but just the opposite.

I thought the people going to Canada during Viet Nam were Cowards or fools or what not but it seems they assesed the situation correctly.

No matter how much complaining, etc. one does this type of behavior will not stop.

When Johnny comes marching home & has won the war to save mankind there are all sorts of Parades ( Except for Viet Nam) & all the public is so grateful that we kept the HUN at bay but the one's that come home with physcial, mental or what ever sort of disabilites are never discussed or included in the parade.

Note....In Iraq Bush didn't want any pictures of the caskets being sent home. So I would think that is one opinion that may tie this into from the upper echlon.

Might I suggest if the present RO's can't handle the paper work correctly then hire a private firm to help until the situation is corrected as the Military did in Irag with hiring a Private Army.

Over sight of the work of these people is just a big joke if the people who run these programs don't put any teeth into their statements about reprussions if someone is found doing wrong.

Look at these phony OIL prices that being manipulated just so the rich can get richer by taking advantage of the one's who don't have as much politicial power.

We are spending Billions & possibly a Trillion in Iraq & aren't out of there yet & how many people in IRAQ (Men,Women, & especially CHILDREN) are being maimed, mulitated & killed because of this war? Yes, the people in IRAQ belong to the same Human Species that we do. Why is always that so many Civilians get killed during these damned wars? Oh ya, almost forgot, "Collateral Damage" PC word for who gives a damn?

Will the next President stop these 3 wars we have at present or will he just be showed how to open an off shore banking account?

Fear is what is used to control the masses. Such as we fight them (Taliban) over there or they'll just follow us home & I wonder what we are doing there in the first place. If one was to analyze every war there ever was I suspect that would be the same method that worked in each one. During the "COLD WAR" the Government had everyone convinced that their neighbor may be a Communist & to be hinted at that U may be one could get U black balled.

The "Military Industrial Complex" does very good during a war so "THANK U SIR, MAY I HAVE ANOTHER ?" I almost forgot but of the 17 Terroists that were involved in the Twin Towers Fiasco 15 of them were Saudia Arabians & with no planes flying Bush put a Plane in the air to get the Bin Ladens out of the USA.

I often heard during the 60's that wars were started by "Old Men" to be fought by "Young Men" of which I just sort of brushed off but now as I have time to analyze the situation my feeling tend to believe it's the truth.

I have no words to describe our present President ( & wouldn't even if I could as I don't want to be arrested & be held till someone wants to let me go) because as everyone knows or should "That E mails & Phone Calls are screened" & that's about all I can think of to say or want to" HA

Another thing that has always puzzled me is why would someone spend Milliions to get a $400,000.00 a year job. Granted, there are a lot of perks & retire after one term but to collect Millions to throw at this job is something I suppose my lil' peasant brain can't comprehend.

Oh wait, is it possible there are a lot of under the counter deals that go on that replace those Millions with Billions?

The reason I wandered like I did while speaking of Veterans benefits is to put forth an idea that the "POWER'S THAT BE" find the Vets one of the easiest groups to DENY..DENY..DENY & SOONER OR LATER YOU'RE GOING TO DIE

As I have said on here before ( Correct me if I'm wrong) but I have read that only 8% of Veterans ever file a NOD...So, working with those percentages the VA has to come out on top even without shredding claims or losing them, etc. Just like a Casino doesn't have to cheat U as the odds are stacked against U before U even play.

I'm 61 & have seen so many new laws enacted it makes me sick & I am glad to say "I won't be around at the end of the next 50"

Please don't get my message wrong as I love the USA but the people who run it don't even seem anymore to try to hide the fact they are trying to get more & more money out of the working class.

It all started for me with Nixon & the Milk Money Scandle ( When these types of activies were trying to be kept from the masses) & since then it has excalated with the thought of I suppose " What can these little people do?"

& that Men/& or Women is what I think is the reason we get all the Buffons running the RO's. But, if they are so dumb they sure keep the approval ratings low & know how to run shredders, etc. Oh ya, they also have Lawyers that are Snakes but definately aren't stupid.

Just my thoughts of the situation & Thank U very much for reading it whether U agree or not.

Thank U

GARY

If you want to start somewhere, were the VA hides, destroys evidence for goodness sake start with that sorroy excuse for a rating outfit called the APPEALS MANAGMENT CENTER.

My claim went there in Nov 2003 and sat there for years.

After getting numbers to call to get my claim moving again last Nov-2007 I was told by the person I talked to they she wasn't the one that hid it, but it was finally found and is in the rating process now. A few weeks later it was dcenied without ever viewing the supporting military health records Dr Bash requested I send with it.

They lost the records or shreaded them & denied the claim on pure BS.

Keep it there 5 years and do absolutly nothing? I say put their asses in jail where they belong.

It's gone to the BVA now. But the Appeals Center should be investagated for sure. Bet they will make Michigan look like small time crooks compared to them.

How long can they keep a claim at the BVA level anyway? It has a 1998 docket number for goodness sake.

Why in the world would these people treat disabled american veterans claims this way, if they didn't gain something for it? You just don't do these ilegal acts for nothing. They got raises, bonuses, or a better possition for it. It was for something and those overseeing them approved it.

I think it was around 5 years ago something just like this happened and I either posted it on Hadit or read about it here.

Without the media, nothing will change over this. It's been hapening to me and others for years and years and our lives will be gone soon without ever seeing any changes.

Hire more raters? What a damn joke. Hire more and train them to act just like these crooks is more like it.

I kind of wish someone, maybe a fellow vet, who works in the VA federal payroll center might have an accident and possibly bleep the federal payroll for VARO Detroit---all the payroll checks end up direct deposit(?)in Guam, nope, that would be FDIC, we're still screwed. *Don't do this, just kidding, as there are still some very dedicated federal employees. Thank you, to the "Whistle Blowers" who finally tooted on the VARO shredders. Obviously, the problems do not just involve VA medical care. It is time for Congress to bulldoze the entire VA claims management system and rebuild.

Today Larry Scott posted the legal ramifications these employees could face.

It is odd how prophetic this statement was from a retired VA Rater who started the VietNow site a few years ago-Ray Gustavson

"However, if you wait several years to file a claim, you should keep in mind that physicians don’t keep their records forever. So get your claim submitted before your records wind up in the trash bin or shredder."

He might well have been talking about private doctors-

I am unaware -but nothing surprises me these days- how a VA doctor would have the right to shred VA medical records.
