Morphine Recall

This is a Morphine Recall from the FDA. IR (imediate release), ER (Extended Release) are both on the list at the link. I have the one listed below with expiration of 12/2008.

Morphine Sulfate Extended Release Tablets, 15 mg: Lots: 81175, 82514-16, 89660, 89664, 89667, 90249-51, and 91687 with expiration dates ranging from 12/2008 to 2/2010

The recall is for Ethex Morphine. The page below discribes it as oval shaped Grey for the 100-200 mg. This is all I have come up with so far.

My VA Morphine is round and blue, but it is 15 mg ER. I stopped taking it as it made me sick and I couldn't breath very well.

I will call VA Phama, and find out if our Mophine ER is Ethex or not. BRB.

I called the VA Pharmacy, and the VA Pharmacy said that the morphine I have is Mallincroft brand. Keep in mind that this is from the Arkansas VAMC. It is possible that other states have other brands.

The name of the Manufacturer is right directly below the Prescription name.

You would have to check the brand name under the word Morphine. If it is Ethex there is a problem. The brand on mine is Mallincroft. Also the expiration date is important. Expiration dates ranging from 12/2008 to 2/2010.

I do know that when taking my Mallincroft Morphine, about a year ago, I had very bad breathing problems so I discontinued it. I was keeping this for emergeny flare ups. Looks like keeping this emergency remedy is over with now.

Ethex has been involved in several recalls lately....I wonder what is going on there???
