Had My C & P Yesterday

Question

I had my C & P yesterday and it went better than expected. The VA Hospitol in Palo Alto is amazing and mostly everyone there is very friendly. The PTSD exam took about 90 minutes and the other stuff took about 2 1/2 hrs. The exams went better than I expected and the doc's were very nice and pleasant to talk to.

I was suprised that when they called me they wanted to schedule it right away. Literally, they wanted me in the next day, lol. I still have to go back for audio and pulminary tests. I was very pleased to find out that they pay for my miles, which got me around $60 bucks and it only cost me about $10 to get there because I drive a KIA Rio, lol. I hate driving a KIA, just the letters give me the heebie jeebies.

Always nice to hear Veterans who are happy with their treatment. Next time you go to the VARO ask for a copy of your C&P

VetMP,

First off, Welcome to Hadit and thank you for your service. You will find so many resources and friends on this site to help you get the benefits and help you need.

I am also rated for PTSD and have been fighting the VA for the past 5 years. It is not fun.

So when you say " my c&p went well", I just hope that it did not go well just like a good " job interview". I hope you have evidence and explained to the examiner how your sypmtoms effected your daily life, the triggers, the nigtmares, social impact, etc. Basically, describing you must tell them your WORST days.

I had three or 4 of these C&P exams for PTSD alone. And you may be surprise what these docs will write, to include how you dress, how you comb your hair, your employment, your speech, etc. All of these the raters will read and determine your rating. This particular mental sickness is Mental but can be judge by your appearance too. As of now, there is no cure for PTSD. Typically, these symptoms tend to get worst, just like mine.

Good luck on the decision and as expected, prepare to slap them with an NOD ( Notice of Disagreement ) for a higher rating once they get around to a decision.

 Congrats on your C & P Hearing. I hope all goes well for you, BUT... I had filed for both hearing and PTSD. I had my hearing C & P on 11-03-08. I'm still waiting for that decision. Thank God, I got a copy of the results. If you didn't do it, DO IT.. On March 3, I got an answer to an IRIS I had sent asking if my claim was nearing closure. I was informed they had no record of my claim even existing. I have written both my Senators, and have contacted the American Legion rep in Birmingham. The VA will look great in the beginning, but they sure get ugly when you want their money .....

I'd give them a couple of weeks, although I'd be willing to wager that the C&P results, just like your "normal" visits to you Primary Care doc, is entered into the regular computerized health care records immediately after your C&P and should be within the confines of the medical records department immediately.

I don't know about anyone else here, but when I go in for my regular visits, either to my primary care doc or to any of my specialists (psych, etc.), that they sit there as they are examining or talking with you and they have already got your previous records in front of them on the computer screen and they begin entering the current visit as I sit there.
