Deferred Decision

Rate this question

Izzy

Question

I was looking through my paperwork and I notice that on my last C&P decision I have a statement that reads: "We have deferred a decision on the folowing issues because we need additional information or evidence:"

one spuring of LS and L4 with degenerative changes and lower back pain secondary to degenerative joint disease

Scoliosis, lumber spine with lower back pain secondary to head trauma

This was in December 7, 2007.

Should I do something about it or just wait like always for VA?

Izzy

Normally on something like that they will ask you for additional information to support your claim at that time or set up another C&P for those issues. Is there anything like that in the letter asking you for more information on that condition ? I would not wait any longer. You need to contact the 1-800 number or IRIS to get a verification if those issues are still active or if they suspended them because of time limitations.

Thank you LuvHim and Mags, I will do so, also if you have time could you tell me what an IRIS is and do you believe that I should go to my VA Rep for this issue since it has been a 1 1/2 and I have not heard anything, not even a letter stating that they are working on my case.

One more thing, I have been asking the opinion if I should submit for TBI utilizing the VONAPP or go directly to the VARO. The reason is that I have not seen any comments about this website.

Thanks again, Mike.

It sounds like it is still an open issue and they should have contacted you by now on it-

then again hard to say- I would Iris them if I were you for the exact status of the claim and quote the deferred statement in the Iris email.

Just go to the main VA web site and use the Contact Us forms- It might be under the Compensation Pension Icon.

The site will take you step by step how to fill in the form.

It helps to have the question already prepared in a Word doc that you can paste into the Iris form section.

They will respond with an email link you have to click on- to read the response.

Thank you Berta for your guidance and help. There are so many things that I don't know and I know that many fellow Veterans don't either, I will pass the information on, have a bless day.
