    Have Questions? Get Answers.

Tips on posting on the forums.

    1. Post a clear title like ‘Need help preparing PTSD claim’ or “VA med center won’t schedule my surgery instead of ‘I have a question.

    2. Knowledgeable people who don’t have time to read all posts may skip yours if your need isn’t clear in the title.
I don’t read all posts every login and will gravitate towards those I have more info on.

    3. Use paragraphs instead of one massive, rambling introduction or story.

Again – You want to make it easy for others to help. If your question is buried in a monster paragraph, there are fewer who will investigate to dig it out.

    Leading too:

exclamation-point.pngPost straightforward questions and then post background information.

    Examples:

    • Question A. I was previously denied for apnea – Should I refile a claim?
      • Adding Background information in your post will help members understand what information you are looking for so they can assist you in finding it.
Rephrase the question: I was diagnosed with apnea in service and received a CPAP machine, but the claim was denied in 2008. Should I refile?

    • Question B. I may have PTSD- how can I be sure?
      • See how the details below give us a better understanding of what you’re claiming.
Rephrase the question: I was involved in a traumatic incident on base in 1974 and have had nightmares ever since, but I did not go to mental health while enlisted. How can I get help?

This gives members a starting point to ask clarifying questions like “Can you post the Reasons for Denial of your claim?”

You’ve just been rated 100% disabled by the Veterans Affairs. After the excitement of finally having the rating you deserve wears off, you start asking questions. One of the first questions that you might ask is this: It’s a legitimate question – rare is the Veteran that finds themselves sitting on the couch eating bon-bons … Continue reading

Disabilities Claim

babyray

Question

I file a claim for a trochanteric bursitis of the left hip & degenerative disc disease and spondylolisthesis of the lumbar spine. I was given 3 c&p othropedic exams, one was not in my favor and 2 was greatly in my favor. Could any one tell me which c&p exam will the rating board use to rate me? could anyone tell me what recent I could get rated for all 3 disabilities? The rating board is about to rate my claim.

"Could any one tell me which c&p exam will the rating board use to rate me?"

You're serious, right?

I got 20% for a totally screwed-up ankle and lower leg (long story short, I can't walk without a full-leg brace, cane or crutches or walker).

What they will rate you as is all dependent upon what the rater wants to give you.

And, quite seriously, you will be "lucky" to get all three.

By-the-way, why three different C&P's?

Welcome here- the Schedule of Ratings is on the page before this one-and you could compare your disabilities to how they determine the ratings.

But I agree with Larry-that 3 C & Ps is odd-were they each for separate disabilities?

Is your service nexus for these conditions fully established?

Do these disabilities have anything at all to do with the 40% you get now?

Berta, i got 40% for my thigh & knee. i file a claim for secondary hip, spine. the first cp was inaccurate & i filed a complaint. varo did a 2nd cp on me that was favorable but did not review it & rated me on the first cp & the rater low ball, giving me 10% hip & 0% spine. exam. i filed a reconsideration claim base on the 2nd cp they did not use. they reviewed the 2nd exam & decided to ordered a 3rd cp, which was more favorable to me than the 2nd one.

the claim is about to go to the rater. which exam will you think that they will use?
