Stand Up for Veterans Update

More Info

June 11, 2009 Advance Appropriations Legislation Approved by House Committee Sufficient, timely and predictable funding for veterans health care is one step closer to becoming a reality with the unanimous passage (21 to 0) of the Veterans Health Care Budget Reform and Transparency Act (H.R. 1016) by the House Committee on Veterans' Affairs. This vital legislation, which has been strongly supported by Disabled American Veterans (DAV), would authorize Congress to approve medical care appropriations for the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) one year in advance of the start of each fiscal year to help end funding delays that have plagued VA. The Senate VA Committee approved similar legislation (S. 423) last month. Click here for more information.

House Committee Approves Legislation to Improve Health Care for Women Veterans The House Veterans' Affairs Committee also approved the Women Veterans Health Care Improvement Act (H.R. 1211), which would improve and expand health care services for women veterans. The legislation would require VA to identify and remove barriers that women veterans face when seeking care from VA medical facilities.
