    Have Questions? Get Answers.

Tips on posting on the forums.

    1. Post a clear title like ‘Need help preparing PTSD claim’ or “VA med center won’t schedule my surgery instead of ‘I have a question.

    2. Knowledgeable people who don’t have time to read all posts may skip yours if your need isn’t clear in the title.
I don’t read all posts every login and will gravitate towards those I have more info on.

    3. Use paragraphs instead of one massive, rambling introduction or story.

Again – You want to make it easy for others to help. If your question is buried in a monster paragraph, there are fewer who will investigate to dig it out.

    Leading too:

exclamation-point.pngPost straightforward questions and then post background information.

    Examples:

    • Question A. I was previously denied for apnea – Should I refile a claim?
      • Adding Background information in your post will help members understand what information you are looking for so they can assist you in finding it.
Rephrase the question: I was diagnosed with apnea in service and received a CPAP machine, but the claim was denied in 2008. Should I refile?

    • Question B. I may have PTSD- how can I be sure?
      • See how the details below give us a better understanding of what you’re claiming.
Rephrase the question: I was involved in a traumatic incident on base in 1974 and have had nightmares ever since, but I did not go to mental health while enlisted. How can I get help?

This gives members a starting point to ask clarifying questions like “Can you post the Reasons for Denial of your claim?”

You’ve just been rated 100% disabled by the Veterans Affairs. After the excitement of finally having the rating you deserve wears off, you start asking questions. One of the first questions that you might ask is this: It’s a legitimate question – rare is the Veteran that finds themselves sitting on the couch eating bon-bons … Continue reading

Question

I called the VA and they told me that my claim for PTSD and TBI was at the rater how much longer should I expect? I tried to search the website for this answer but couldnt find it. Thanks in advance

p.s. They also said that they noticed thay no VSO was representing me and how I can contact a VSO. Do I need to do this?

The DAV is representing me and they are normally located where your regional office is. There is no certain time limit to your claim being rated but you should feel good because you're at the home stretch. Mine took about 4 weeks from the time it was being rated.

Shouldn't be long comrad. You're at the final stage of the game. Good luck on your claim and get a representative. I have DAV and they have represented me well.

Hang in there my friend. You are close and there is probably no point in getting vso now, but that is your call. If you got that through iris, it does mean there is movement on the claim.

I talked to a live person. You know I have always heard of this IRIS thing, im sorry to sound naive but what is that? I have read you ask some VA website a question and it answers but Ive never found this hidden trasure.

If all the evidence is in should be no more than thirty days but as long as sixty days but I agree you are very close. If you get a vso now it could delay your claim if they want to review the evidence so be very careful

I feel your grief, I have been told the very say thing over the last month+..I have them by the short ones and I fear they may still blast me with some crap. I got a letter the other day, you know the white envelope? I though OH God this is it, couldn't open it called a friend and come to find out it was nothing but a repeated decision on my foot they had already sent me. They give me 20% on the foot but said the scar was not SC? Funny they cut my foot open to repair the foot. I feel they are trying to get me to NOD the scar so they can put off rating my claim to dodge the meat of my claim, Low Back, neuropathy in my legs, PTSD and there own C&P's Dr's folded and SC'ed me..Now I feel they are trying to get me to bite on the NOD on the scar so they can put it off for a few more years and request new C&P's and maybe get another result, this is the way it looks "bad". I was told my claim is that my claim is ready to rate and it could take up to 60 days but no more, right I've been there before.. I had my my DRO Review 6 months ago and he said he might order 2 more C&P's, after 4+ month I raised hell and they sent me to 2 c&p's. Well after 1+month there still goofing with my claim.. So there's no telling when they will rate your claim solid or not and I have a VSO and a solid claim. So needless to say I'll eat the scar they denied for rediculas reasons and they know it the C&P doc wrote it in as part of the surgery to my foot while in service...But these are the things we have to deal with, Good luck....Yog

yog, just be patient and tenacious. Do nothing right now but remember you have a year from your denial letter. let VA rate your other claims and if they process within a year then file your NOD. You don't know the outcome so you may have to NOD another claims just keep in mind the decision date

Now I was told today that my claim got kicked back by the rater. Because they need my 201 file for something...? Why would it go to the rater ready to go and then he decides to kick it back just because.. ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The 201 is your personnel file. They want to verify that you were where you said you were, or verification of combat, accident, or trauma. Hang in there, this should not take long. You can ask them when the suspense is up for your records to come in. It will then go back to the rating board. Good Luck!
