Question

After an (seemed like) eternity, during which time I could not find out much, the TDIU(as I have previously posted) was received.I called the 800 number Monday ,and the rep could not have been more helpfull.Today the magic letter came-service connected-no more exams 100%.Go shop at commisary and exchange. It is amazing how things go in dealing with the VA from so frustrating to so smooth. Thanks to all.

Last time I was there all they did was look at my ID and let me roll through

Well, that musta been back before the advent of gun powder! ;)

The very last time I was there.....there was this little SP gal standing in front of my car (the .45 ACP was almost as big as she was, but, she looked perfectly capable of using it....) and there was this AP with the M16. I stopped and they went over my documents and my wife's before raising the steel barricade (well, acutally "lowering" the steel barricade). Then, when we got ready to leave, we got stopped in a line of cars (7 or 8 cars) while the AP's went over our vehicle with the German Sheperds.........seems they came up one prisoner short at the supper "head count" behind the concertina wire and the signs that say "absolutely no cameras or recording devices will be allowed past this point and don't EVEN slow down to take a look, either.....".

And, these young folks all looked "earnest" in their endeavors!

"............step outta your cars, ID's in your hands, back away from your car and leave the doors open.....yes, you too, miss...and NO, LEAVE YER PURSE INSIDE THE CAR.....that's right....now sloooowwly back away.....thank you................"

I was directed to a previous hadit post-is the DD Form 2765,the DOD ID card you get when you go to the visitors shack. Is it good a various military bases(say you were out of town) or only the local one that issues it?Thanks

It is the DOD Form # 2765. It is good anywhere there happens to be a U.S. Military Installation (and, also, some of our "dearest friends" places. Like, for example, the Royal Navy Club in downtown London and other "neat" places. It'll get you overnighters at some really good places (U.S. Navy Lodges, which are quite a bit like Ramada Inns, located on MOST Navy bases, and go for around $40 bucks a night, or the Armed Forces Vacation Clubs with prices about $329 a week in some places like on the grounds of Mickey Mouse Club in Orlando, or the lodge on the Big Island) all sorts of goodies are available. Plus lots of "discounts" like Avis and even some good discounts on flights, etc. Even will get you discounts at Lowes or Home Depot, all you gotta do is flash yer card.

I live just a few miles from a AFB. I never go there for anything. I got the I.D. but I don't want to wait in line. At the gate there is a guy about 50 feet back hiding in a little bunker with a automatic rifle aiming at the people driving into the base. I hope he is not high on drugs.
