Claiming it (the obesity) as a secondary to PTSD - due to the avoidance mechanism related to alchohol/food.

I had the Lap Band procedure done about 2 years ago, and went from 350 pounds to 242 pounds. People need to realize that this is not a cure all. This is only a tool. I went from drugs and rot gut addiction to food addiction. You will still have the addiction after the lap band, but there are rules you must follow in order for it to work. One basic rule you have to remember is that you can not put 5 gallons into a 2 gallon bucket.

I don't think that will fly.

Well, I do not want to encourage someone to file a claim that has no basis, but, then again, I am no psychologist or medical doctor, so I'll withhold judgement until such time as we shall see what we shall see.

I have heard of more weird claims succeeding, as we all have. If they have a VSO that is helping them, then I bow to their expertise in this matter.

What does the doctor say. That is the bottom line!

If alcoholism can be a symptom of PTSD or depression why cannot food addiction be secondary if the doctor says so? With the VA anything is possible.
