Question

Mr Vets new CP exam is scheduled for 60 mins and I do not see on the appointment sheet the MMPI testing like he has had 3x before- we are in remand from BVA -this will be his 3rd exam in 11yrs.-could it be because they finally realize he has been SS for PTSD since 03- and hasnt worked since-are we at the end-3 IMOS are PTSD-2 VA are not clear - and could they bedoing this to keep the score @ 4 to 3- and why not the MMPI this time? Stressors are verified and VA admitted PTSD back in 05'-and he is on SS for PTSDsince 03' and NSC because he can't work and hasn't since 01'-if they offset his NSC because of SS-why did they fail to even consider that evidence twice-in the SSOCs- until 07' when they've been offsetting since 03'?

Be careful about speculating as opposed to presenting facts. I doubt that even the VA gives tests and exams to get the answers that they want.

Thank you for posting Mrvet's BVA appeal. It will be helpful to many disabled vets filing their claims and appeals.... I have just read your BVA appeal decision, as well as some of your previous posts. The page you also posted, appears to be the appeal you presented for the BVA appeal...??? I'm glad to know that you have an attorney... IMHO, It appears that you were denied some claims and the rest were remanded back to the VARO for new tests and evaluations and ratings...

What did your lawyer tell you about it?

I was stationed southwest of Da Nang, in the central highlands, down near Chu Lai, in an army, light weapons infantry line company, in I corp RVN, 66-67.

In the SSOC 05the VA admits finding PTSD then said" in absence of verifiable stressor which would permit finding of service connection" so it was denied. Then 2 years later the SSOC 07they verified the stressors which they had way before in 04' the first SSOC (but just didnt bother to verify them-then changed their diagnosis from PTSD to"various psychiatic diagnoses"after they verified the stressors. They also never mention in the BVA remand that MRvet is disabled due to PTSD from social security since 03' and reason-being he has NSC pension which is offset with his SS-but somehow that has no substance-he has a doctors diagnosis from 1 month after returning from Nam, with anxiety on which he was prescribed librium various times in the 70's-they really are disregarding his positive IMO's from all 3 private diagnoses of PTSD-but yet they offset his money every month-so I guess PTSD in Social Security Law is different than PTSD in VA Speak! and that was an addendum that was submitted after the DRO hearing by our atttorney before it even went to the BVA hearing -that was in fact an inconclusive PTSD exam because as he said he met all critieria for PTSDthat was required according to the DSM_IV and not all 7 were necessary-back then I wanted a new exam, they advised no, and she is the same one who had me detained by security the whole time -I told her I was allowed to be there, and off I went -when she was done with him -she let me back escorted by security down the hallway to go get him-I guess I was considered a terrorist??????????????for protecting my husband whom I've been with 30 years and counting......hope that helps

I had to take the MMPI twice because the examiner said I exaggerated my problems on the first one. I told him I did the test according to my worst day. He then said just to be neutral with what's going on because it will always come up as exaggerated if you give it your worst day. Just something for you guys that haven't taken it. The tests took me about 3 hours to complete.

Frank:

You scare me. I don;t think that you understand the common advice for dealing with Docs on C&P. Yes answer the questions as if it was a normal day for you and not a defensive reply designed to get someone to leave you alone.

On Psychological Exams just answer the questions as asked. If you try to answer like you did it will bite you in the ass.

Good Luck

Mrs. Vet thanks for the post, reminded me courtesy of Frank, - during vocational rehabilitation 'evaluation' there was a test that seemed similar - nearly hour or so long. When finishing up the eval, test results were regurgitated to me questions turned about to make 'statements' that described my work mentality. A waste of my time and thoughts. May just help my IU.

John, I think they do the MMPI just for the reason you say they don't. They want to get a PD diagnosis so as to deny based on PD. MMPI is so manipulative and doctor can say you have PD just by answering a few questions differently. It's a crap shoot with these guys. On my last MMPI with civilian doc there was a question that asked if I liked to tease animals. Well I could of either answer that Yes or No depending on what they mean by teasing. I play tease all the time but not in a malicious way.

Many questions were asked twice or maybe three times just in different ways. The problem with this is the same questions can be interpreted differently when asked a different way so you may answer yes on one and no on another. After 3 hours I was just ready to throw in the towel. These tests are draining and boring.

The way I see it there's too much room for interpretation with many of these questions.

Just for the record though I answered "NO" to the teasing question..... :P LOL
