Ivds And Spinal Fusion Combined?

Rate this question

Question

If you are rated under 5243 for Intervertabral Disc Disease (IVDS), for lumbar spine and you've had a lumbar fusion code 5241, can you claim 5241 in addition to the IVDS? Also, what is the rating for spinal lumbar fusion 5241? If 5241 fusion rating varies, what determines the rate? I've seen a 40% and a 10% rating for 5241.

The VA will only rate the most serious disability of a bodily segement unless your spine problems are 2 different segements such as Cervical Fusion and Lumbar IVDS.

If both conditions are cervical or thoracolumbar then they cannot combine 2 as it iis called pyramiding.
