When you have a speech recognition score of 84 in both ears what is the normal percentage of compensation?

Thanks

Ken

I think you have to apply the tables found in section 4.85 of 38CFR to determine the compensation level, if any. I think the speech discrimination percentages have to be coupled with the puretone threshhold averages to determine amount of hearing loss. Hope this helps,

Pat

I found the below information but do not know what the normal percentage for speech recognition?

http://www.vba.va.gov/bln/21/Benefits/exams/disexm05.htm

[For VA purposes, impaired hearing is considered to be a disability when the auditory threshold in any of the frequencies 500, 1000, 2000, 3000, and 4000 Hz is 40 dB HL or greater; or when the auditory thresholds for at least three of these frequencies are 26 dB HL or greater; or when speech recognition scores are less than 94%.]
