Upon Being Awarded 100%

Question

For those that have been fortunate enough to receive 100%, please review the many additional benefits that become available. Specifically I'm referring to dental and eyeglasses. I am surprised to find out how many 100% Vets don't avail themselves of total dental work at their local VA. There are many other benefits, such as educational money for college students etc. You have earned these benefits, so don't feel as though anyone is doing you a favor. Educate yourself on what you justly deserve... and..Welcome Home brothers and sisters.

I'm glad I began this post. Upon checking these replies, it appears as though questions are being asked and answered. That's what hadit's forum is all about. I began by reminding those who have been awarded 100% to avail themselves of the extended benefits that come along with that rating. I'm happy to see the majority of viewers not yet at 100% asking the questions that may directly effect their benefits. Keep up the good work. Remember, we're all in this together. WELCOME HOME!

I don't know the regs on this but speaking for myself, I am exempt from co-pay from being below that threshold in means testing and I am only so far rated at 40% and I was able to get eyeglasses. I believe they said it was a result of my financial status but I can't swear to that.

Likewise and unless something has changed I was able to get eyeglasses when I was rated at 10% in 2002. At the time I got mines, I was working at the VAMC. I saw plenty of veterans rated at 10% and above get eyeglasses. Of course, there were certain glasses that you had to pick from, but they were glasses.

Speaking for myself, I got hearing aids in '02 while not service connected at all. As a business owner (construction) I was well over the income threshold. The audiologist asked if I was a combat veteran. I told her I was and BAM, I got hearing aids.Got a second pair in April '09 but then I was at 50%. The audiologist told me I could get a new pair every 5 years.
