I was refilling my medications on the VA's 'www.myhealth.va.gov' web site and noticed something very unusual. On Monday, they mailed out "CARBIDOPA/LEVODOPA 25/100 TAB". I looked it up 'http://www.drugs.com/mtm/carbidopa.html' and found this is used to treat Parkinson's disease! Drugs.com says it may be used for uses other than what was listed on their page, but I would have at least expected the doctor to tell me something like this... Has anyone else heard of this happening? Should I call my VA PCP or the VA pharmacy and ask about it?

Aha! I talked with the VA pharmacy and found out what this is for. Prior to a sleep clinic evaluation, they will mail out small amounts of certain medications, usually tylenol and something to help you sleep. In this case, this medication is also used to treat restless leg syndrome. If the people observe me having this problem when I sleep, then they will wake me up and feed me the pills. Whew, it had me worried...

Just tell them you are going to go see

a drug dealer on the corner to get a qualude ~ lol.

No, in all sincerity you were right to check the med out.

That is always the best thing to do.

Lol! I went by the VA today and saw plenty of opportunities outside on the street corners.

Yes, it is better to be safe than sorry.
