Question

I was in the US Army from 11/67 to 08/73. I happen to ask the PCP if I could see my records, he said that clinics did not have previous records of personnel they were treating, just local records.
I requested a copy of my service medical records, they are only records from the last 18 months of service. I enquired as to why only a partial record. I was told by someone in St. Louis record center that that all there is. I am missing almost 3 and a half years of records. I guess my question is this common? There were hearing tests showing hearing loss, ect. Do I have any recourse because I was denied hearing loss and tinnius claim due to helicopter turbine noise and accoustic trama due to gun fire. I comes down to my word against theirs, I lose .
Thanks ahead of time for suggestions. This sure is an AWESOME site, sure wish I had found it sooner.
