Answering My Own Question

Question

After many questions posed to numerous people, I think I have it figured out.

You can collect unemployment or work while waiting on the determination of a service connected disability. You cannot do either while waiting for determination of a non service connected disability.

SC's are running anywhere from 4 months to over a year depending on the problem and which region you apply in. Non service connecteds are running 6 months to over a year depending on the same things.

I just recently had someone have the awareness to ask me if I sought treatment for my condition while in the service, and as it turns out there are records to back it up and I even remember the name of the civilian doctor I was referred to, so I am going to pursue that for now. I have talked to numerous individuals about this and it was the first time anyone posed the question. Too bad the system has to work like this.

Too risky for me. Good luck with this for you. Follow Carlies guideline, as she has more experience within these areas. I have enough heat from them without making them question anything else. Yes, I read it but find it cautionary. jmho.

Yes, I agree fully with this.

Thanks, jerr

jerr,

Legal and dangerous are two separate issues.

In reading your link - I interpret it to say

SSA Law Judges are to carefully scrutinize SSA disability applications

that are applying for SSA disability benefits at the same time they are

in receipt of Unemployment benefits.

But the point I posted doesn't even really address the factors

in regards to laws or regulations.

My point is to address the importance of one keeping their

medical and financial information to themselves.

Many people have at some time, placed themselves in the unfortunate

situation of blabbing their personal information as above, to someone,

that one day got pissed or jealous of their situation and made

some pretty heavy waves in their life.

jmho,

carlie
